The outside of the building looks terrible. Abandonbed. I thought my husband was joking when he said that was it. But the inside was completely redone and surprisingly modern and clean. Communication was terrible, but thank goodness the couple who cleans was there and they were a huge help, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get our access code.

North Star Was a Pleasant Stay

North Star Apartments in Rif was a pleasant stay. Nothing exceptional. But it was good. The apartment was adequate for a family of five (my 4 year old slept with Mom in bed). We were able to get extra sheets, pillows, and bedding from a couple that stayed on the floor with us. I think they were the custodial/janitorial staff. No one else was in the property which was eerie for us. But it turned out OK. The exterior of the property looks run down and old but the inside of the place is as fine as any other hotel or apartment. No food here. But there are nearby towns and restaurants. We didn't get the email/message notification for our stay and the key entry. We checked our junk mail/spam folder as well but nothing. So we had to call the main office and get that. Luckily, someone picked up and answered to get us that info. Other than that, North Star was a pleasant stay.

Zusammengefasst: Von außen Pfui von innen Hui. Voll ausgestattet Küche, ordentliches Badezimmer, Fußbodenheizung, sehr sauber, sah von innen noch ziemlich neu aus. Hotel ohne Rezeption, es wird lediglich ein Code für die Türe benötigt, den man rechtzeitig per Mail zugesandt bekommt. Negativ: abgelegen im Industriegebiet Wirkt von außen nicht so schön, überrascht dafür aber von innen.

This place was clean and had a comfortable bed. The TV had less than 5 channels, of which some did not work all the time. But there are plenty of beautiful sights to see in the area!

The place I stayed Apartment 7 was really comfortable.it has its own stove bathroom, spacious room and a ref.When we went in we just found out there were 2 big flies and I dont know where it came from.From the outside the building looks run down but inside it was clean and well maintained.There is no reception there and you only get an email for the code to get in into the room so be aware.I read one review that she didnt know about it and the email went to her spam.

When we first arrived to the property, we weren't sure if it was for real. The outside looked like it was an abandoned property, as there is a spot where what used to be a supermarket now lies dormant. There were rust stains on the walls, and not a soul in sight. However, when we opened the room we were very surprised to see its condition. It looked like a 4-star hotel room as everything is clean and modern. There's one TV channel for cable but it was a nice, quiet place to spend the night. Check-in was a breeze, and there were no issues at all with the amenities provided.

Lo justo para salir del paso

Una habitación básicamente correcta, en un edificio de aspecto ruinoso y depresivo. Rif, el pueblo, es básicamente nada, un pequeñísimo número de casas, almacenes pesqueros y barcos en el puerto. Nadie en la calle en ningún momento, ninguna tienda, servicio o similar, hasta varios kilómetros, en otros pueblos. Al llegar, el navegador te lleva a una localización que te parece improbable: un edificio de almacenes o industria, de aspecto destartalado y deteriorado. Ni un alma. Siguiendo las instrucciones, se accede, en el interior, al apartamento. Éste en sí mismo es, básicamente, adecuado: tamaño suficiente, instalaciones correctas aunque algo anticuadas. Baño muy pequeño, difícil acceso a los toalleros, tras la puerta. Limpieza justa (suciedad bajo las camas). Las vistas, eso sí, inmejorables. Desde la ventana se ve el Snaefells. Adecuadas cortinas y wifi. El televisor no permite recibir más que un canal, el resto no funcionan. Cocina, pero no frigorífico (y aquí casi todos los productos necesitan refrigeración por no contener conservantes).

Surprise!

We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. When we pulled up, it appeared as the hotel was abandoned. It looked pretty run down on the outside. When we finally got into our room, we were pleasantly surprised of the nice and clean room with the kitchenette. We only stayed for one night, but we enjoyed our stay there. There is nothing in the area for restaurants, stores, etc.

房內設施齊全，但瀰漫一股臭味！後來發現是從浴室的水管落水口散出的，想聯繫旅館人員但打電話只有服務人員忙碌中的語音，發email也沒人理。若要入住請不要期待能獲得任何協助！

Wir blieben nur über Nacht. Das Self Check In lief problemlos. Das Zimmer inkl. Küche hatte Alles, was wir brauchten, auch zum Kochen. Nur die Dusche war undicht, aber das war das einzige Problem.

Heater not working

The room was large enough to stay 3 people. The equipment was also okay. HOWEVER, the heater was not working. I contacted the number that was mentioned at the room. Even though the staff came after one hour, he couldn't speak English at all. His body language indicated the temperature would be going up after 1 hour. HOWEVER, the heater didn't work in ICELAND!! Also they didn't response at all after the first communication. Terrible service!

在出发前几天邮件通知我酒店设施坏了，无法入住，说要退款给我，要么换到对面的welcome酒店，无奈时间紧迫只能接受更换酒店，但对面酒店明显比北极星酒店要旧，并且没有电梯，我们拿着行李要搬上几层大楼梯，真烦！ 但现场去到北极星酒店，还是看到很多客人入住，有点生气。

Situé dans une zone d'activité, avec des hangars et au milieu l'établissement où nous logeons à l'étage. Le rez-de-chaussée est inoccupé et couvert d'affiches ; de l'extérieur le bâtiment est inquiétant car semble abandonné et dégradé depuis longtemps. Des camions circulent dans la zone qui reste active jusqu'à 22h environ. Rif est en fait un petit bled pommé au milieu de nulle part ; les commerces, station essence et restaurants sont à Olafsvik 6 km plus loin. Des sternes arctiques peuplent les lieux et les animent, volant bas et se faisant régulièrement écraser. L'intérieur de l'immeuble a heureusement été rénové. Pas d'ascenseur, pas de réception sur place (code d'accès transmis par mail). Nous avions demandé une chambre au calme ; nous étions sur la rue principale avec son ballet de camions. La chambre est spacieuse, bonne literie, grandes fenêtres. Les rideaux sont trop clairs et pas assez occultant. Sur le côté, vue sur le volcan Snaeffells. TV grand écran avec 3 chaines islandaises inintéressantes et des radios, le tout brouillé par une mauvaise liaison antenne. Cuisine équipée avec plaques vitro-céramiques, petit réfrigérateur propre, mais pas de four ni micro-onde ; évier trop petit pour laver une assiette. Le wifi gratuit fonctionne bien dans le couloir, mais il manque un répétiteur pour les chambres les plus éloignées. Salle de bain avec bac de douche en plastique lisse glissant, lavabo trop petit et très peu pratique ; les serviettes sont changées chaque jour.

No checkin desk, no staff. Really dirty linen.. bed sheets stained. Towels dirty. Had to use own linen. No facilities. Would avoid. Better and cheaper options available.

Clean, spacious and comfortable

The location of this hotel is excellent, close to the glacier that draws everyone to this area. Food and groceries are available within a 5 to 6 km radius. Our apartment was very nice, clean and spacious, with sea views. The building has no elevator, so you have to carry your bags up the stairs. Overall a great place to stay.
