Average hotel

Level of service - very good receptionists but bar staff and restaurant service was only average. The food was good though. Room was a bit small. The lift was temperamental - on a couple of occasions, it only responded after pressing the desired floor level, several times!

Good value for the money

Plus they have a director of golf to help with tee times and offer a golf package. The only thing wrong was that between the time I booked the room and when we stayed, the hotel had been renamed. Convenient to restaurants and offers breakfast.

Did the job

This hotel is a good relatively cheap and cheerful option if you are wanting to stay in Reading. It is clean and comfortable and does the job, however the car park not the best. It is very tight for space and has very small spaces. Additionally, the underground part of the car park shows signs of wear and tear. For us, it was OK, however it was further from our event than we had realised due to the Reading traffic system and density of traffic, which are of course, outwith the control of the Hotel.

We were told it was near to the Madjeski Stadium, which it isn't.

Disappointed with the location of the hotel - the room was not very clean - light fittings, skirting boards - were very dirty. Not what we expected !

An oasis

Despite the area being dodgy the hotel was excellent. Friendly staff (reception/restaurant/Maids). Paid the extra for an Exec Room and for 20 pounds got 5 pounds of free drinks, fruit, water and the biggest hotel room I have had in many a year

Whats that smell in the corridor?

lol, that is the question that we asked ourselves every time we went out into the hallway during our stay in Reading. We enjoyed our stay, and wanted to note that the hotel staff was very nice and we were very satisfied with our room. We did have two small issues though: 1. The hotel was having an issue with a public restroom, that gave the entire first floor, well, a smell. and 2. Our room was a first floor room that had a window overlooking the service entrance to the kitchen/bar. This didn't appear to be much of an issue when we checked in, but then the loud talking of employees on breaks began (and continuted late into the night) and the noise from carts being brought in and out of kitchen woke us up around 6:30 every morning. We got used to the noise though, and other than those two things, were comfortable in the hotel. It is a bit out of the main shopping area of Reading, and we noticed several other hotels much more conveniently located to the shops and rail station. If the price is comperable, I'd reccommend one of those, as it's either a 5 pound taxi ride or a 1.20 pound bus ride into the main area every day.
