Beautiful property with an overall feel of understated luxury, peace and relaxation. My room was spotless, with a lovely private patio, a luxurious bathroom (loved the huge shower) and comfortable bed. All of the staff was wonderful. Definitely recommend for a quiet escape and recharge.

Very nice and comfortable resort. We really liked the grounds and the proximity to the town of Rancho Santa Fe. The price is consistent with other resorts. We did find some of the room features were dated and could use refreshing. Overall a wonderful place to stay and relax.

Of all of my stays in this area, this was my least favorite hotel. First, although bungalow sounds luxurious, the room is actually in a row of rooms so more like a motel. The outside faces a parking lot so no view. Like any other motel it has two tiny windows so little light in the room. Further, a Toto toilet sounds nice, but it is not in a water closet so it is constantly beeping and extremely annoying in the small room. They should have used the money for this on a better tv since the only other thing to look at is the parking lot. The bed was comfortable though and it had a nice shower and tub. The pool was very small. And they charged 65 dollars to park outside your motel room.

Overall an enjoyable stay, super attentive staff and enjoyed our meals at the hotel. Pool was lovely, kid friendly. Only thing was the room itself -- very musty smell we couldn't quite shake. Amenities were new (shower/bathroom) but bedroom was in need of love. Bed was not the best. We didn't spend any time on our patio because it had not been maintained/lots of bugs/dirty and old outdoor furniture not in any shape to spend time on outside.

This is an old boutique hotel. Had to ask for a bellman, ice and our car from the valet several times before they responded. The breakfast burrito from room service was good. Maid service was good. The pool is just ok. The rooms are very noisy. Couldn’t sleep because of road noise, light in the room, frig running and could hear the neighbors in there room, opening there door and walking up and down the stairs. No elevators. The bed was comfortable.

Beautiful room and property. Relaxing pool with no kids. Lots of little books throughout the property to sit and hang out. Nice but very little walkable town nearby. The service was incredible — they light your fire, bring you water, and are very nice. Food is good too.

A unique property with missed opportunities Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe has a distinctive design, a beautiful setting, and a polite, welcoming staff. Unfortunately, it feels older and less maintained than I expected from the Banyan Tree name and its rates. The architecture is memorable, but its enclosed spaces often feel more like a fortress than a place that embraces the Valle’s views. A restaurant terrace overlooking the landscape could have been a highlight. The two rooftops also have potential, yet a few chairs and cold white spotlights leave them without a clear purpose or inviting atmosphere. The finishes do not match the ambition of the design. Window and door frames look dated and inexpensive, while the room’s lighting controls feel like they belong in the 1990s. Vegetation is taking over the room terrace, and the Cognac Room’s lighting makes a space that should feel cozy seem cold. Despite having two pools, the pool areas offer little shade or seating and seem comfortable for only four to six guests at a time. The poolside food trucks are a nice idea, but they were closed during our visit; we had to call to have them opened. We had a great time overall, which makes these missed opportunities all the more noticeable. The hotel has the ingredients to be exceptional, but it needs more care and attention to how guests use its spaces. At this price, it falls short of the five-star experience I expected.
