The advertisement for this adorable hotel really didnt do it any justice.
So many coastle hotels all look the same and I have stayed in all sorts all over Europe and the UK. This was by far the most adorable, comforting and well put together coastle hotels I have seen in the uk. The manager of the hotel was such a friendly, warm, welcoming, unique, open minded and artistic happy character who you could tell puts so much love and passion into his work.
The hotels vintage, artistic, cultural, and historical theme makes this a magical place to stay weather your traveling to ramsgate as an aspiring author, with family for the festive periods and the open fire of the loung over looking the sea front makes this expecially warm and cozy, as a couple for a coastle get away, for business and the study area of this hotel is just perfect with its antique furniture, antiques everywhere your eyes can see and just the perfect quiet area for work and atudy.
Honesty I could go on forever about how wonderful this hotel is but you really just need to go there to understand where im coming from because no amount of photos or writing could do this any justice.
The hotel is in a prime Ramsgate location high up over the harbour; all front rooms have superb views.
The welcome was warm and we were shown to our room (22) on the third (top) floor. There was no information about the public areas either verbally or in-room, so we explored & found four charming downstairs rooms. There is an honesty bar where a tiny bottle of Peroni beer is charged at £6.50.
Our bedroom was small, as expected, but the mattress on the bed was supremely comfortable and the linen of high quality. However, the iron-frame headboard required two pillows to be stacked up to rest against, and the duvet was too thick for summer. We had to sleep with it half on & half off even with 15C outdoor overnight temperature and the window open.
It's the little touches that make or break a stay at a small, high-end b&b as it's never going to compete with a full-service hotel on facilities. Unfortunately, this is where the Royal Harbour Hotel fell down:
- No fan (essential here!) in room;
- No hand towel in bathroom, just two no-longer-fluffy bath towels and a floor towel/mat;
- Soap scum not fully cleaned off sink;
- One chair only with small hole in seat fabric, not the armchair shown in photo;
- No box of tissues;
- Photo of our room shows a coffee maker, two mugs, two cups & two glasses on the hospitality tray, but all we had of those were instant coffee and two small cups without any saucers or teaspoons.
None of this was worth making a fuss over but it did detract.
We were made to feel very welcome by Matt and his team. Loved every minute of our stay. Everything spotlessly clean and everything worked well. It was hot but Matt made suer we had a fan which helped alot.
Plenty reas and coffees. No complaints.
Pillows were flat but extra were provided. Rooms were clean and spacious with good tea facilities. However room was not cleaned between and toiletries whilst good were not replaced.

The room was extremely small. The TV was not working. It was convenient to town and parking was provided.
A great location within walking distance of the harbour and Town centre. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room was very comfortable.
We parked a few streets away and this was fine.
Lovely bed linen, beautiful views. Shame check in after 4, would prefer 2 or 3 pm. Shaver socket was a bit lose, hutch on the room door did not work. Tv could have been bigger. Otherwise a pleasant stay
Right from the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome.Ther room was wonderful, clean and with a spectacular balcony with a view over the harbour. I was such a special experience, we will definitely be back.
We loved our stay at the Royal Harbour Hotel,particularly enhanced by our super friendly host, Matthew who had kindly upgraded our room on arrival at no extra cost. The room and en-suite were gorgeous! Only downside was the hotel felt quite cold and the room took a while to warm up, the shower also was not very hot or strong. With these points covered, it would have been an exceptional place to stay!
Lovely hotel with fab views across the Royal Harbour, quirkily decorated. Staff really friendly & helpful, particulaly Matthew. OK rooms (& bathrooms) are small, is a(Grade 2?)listed building, but comfortable
Checked in and out in ten minutes because the room we booked on the website was already taken they showed us another to extremely small rooms that were nothing like it.
They've refused a refund so I'm very unhappy and wouldn't ever go again

Disappointing
Lovely and welcoming checkin an the bedroom was lovely. The shower was terrible. not more than a dribble and only tepid. THe hotel doesn’t provide a breakfast in the hotel (other than a picnic breakfast) but it would have been nice to have fresh milk in the rooms so that we could have a cup of tea on the morning. We were also woken up when the people in the room walked around and used the bathroom and it was noisy. Lovely bedroom and the people were lovely but the plumbing and missing touches in the room were missing. I don’t think it was worth the price.
I love this hotel, small but cozy rooms which in many cases have great harbour views.
Staff are always friendly.
Downside? They have stopped doing their excellent breakfast. Covid is given as the reason but the breakfast room is now a lovely lounge, it doesn't look temporary! The unique, in my experience, cheese & biscuits laid out in the evening has gone, also blaming Covid.
Most hotels are back to full service, think they should be too.
But despite this, it's a wonderful place for a break.

Nice hotel on the seafront. I had a lot of steps to climb but it was worth it for the view.

Disappointed
It turned out to be a small room with a view over neighbouring yards. No food was supplied. We were offered a breakfast box in our room at £9.50 a head but since we did not have a chair in the room we declined and went out for breakfast which is not what I expected of a hotel at that price. Location was good but since it was all stairs disabled people should avoid it.
