"The Mark Spencer hotel is the worst hotel in portland. The hotel itself is a boring nightmare with no character. However, it's the staff that makes it a horrific place to stay. When I stayed there for one night they lost $1000 worth of my belonings. I had just fled across country from an abusive relationship and could only bring 2 bags and my dog. They refused to compensate me in any real way, even though I had checked my luggage with them and they were responsible for keeping it. The manager is a night mare man who implied nothing I owned could be worth more that $100. I am 1000 miles from home and don't even have clothes. They also lost mine and my dogs medications, which are not replaceable. If you are staying in Portland, at least go across the street to the Clyde, it's a better hotel, with better staff, than won't try to ruin your livelihood."

"Our room was clean and tastefully decorated. The staff were always asking if there was anything they could for us. When their top chef was on duty, the breakfast was great. Claudio parked and retrieved our car and was helpful with local advice. He set the good tone for all that followed during our stay. The front desk was friendly and flexible and dealt with my needs before and after my hernia repair surgery, making sure my linen was freshly changed on the day I left the hospital and returned to the Dossier. I've mentioned Claudio in this review yet there were many others who were very helpful too but I can't recall their names! All in all my wife and I had a very pleasant stay which helped my recovery go as smoothly as it did."

"The staff was amazing Jasmine and John who works the front desk were very helpful and accommodating. The room was generally clean. Housekeeping was kind and pleasant. The building does not have an elevator and I was on the 2nd floor; the cart was unavailable when I had to change rooms due to a broken toilet. There was no maintenance on site the second time the toilet broke. The key entry to both rooms was a huge challenge. It took multiple times of trying to get the "key" to work, which was very frustrating. "

"I loved the decor and the lobby area. I also liked the daily credit for breakfast or something else. I wish there had been a coffee maker in the room instead of having to schlepp down to the restaurant half asleep to get my coffee fix but they do give you the option of requesting a coffee maker in your room. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Location was super convenient. Some nice bars, restaurants and food trucks nearby."
