It appears we are in chatbot land….
This is a poor quality hotel which wasn't worth the £55 we spent. The bed was missing slats and the room was basic and in some disrepair. The room was however clean which was a relief. The overall condition of the hotel was poor with broken windows on a number of rooms. Check in is an odd affair with a bell to ring and a phone number if no answer. Thankfully we met a helpful resident who helped us to get our room.
very disappointing. On arrival the the bathroom and shower were dirty and had not been cleaned, i found a clump of hair in the corner of the shower and there was mould and mildew all around the seal at the edge of the tray. the fixings on the toilet seat were also rusted and unclean. The bedding although clean was tired and faded, the floors under the beds had not been hoovered and the insides of the draws had not been cleaned. the crockery and glasses in the breakfast room were also dirty. After complaining the shower was bleached and the toilet seat replaced, but on the whole not good at all would not recommend to anyone.
Our room was at the back of this (hotel ha ha ) which overlooks the building site / car park.
The carpet was covered in stains one was an iron burn !!
The bathroom and especially the shower was cover in mould remains in the tile grouting and in the corners.
The shower was unusable as there is a fault in the pumping system for the cold water.
To be fair they send a plumber out the following day but he diagnosed the fault and ordered the needed part but that wouldn’t come in for a week so no help to us.
So no shower for the length of our stay which was 3 nights.
I heard in a conversation between the staff about it that they had known about the problem for a couple of weeks but waited until someone complained.
The kitchen was totally under staffed and the poor lady who had to try and deal with lack of eggs for full English or scrambled eggs or no more orange juice because they had run out.
To be honest she really did her best with what she had available but boy she really couldn’t cook.
She was running the place basically single handed , kitchen, reception and room servicing.
I’m sure the guest staying downstairs was running some sort of business from the bedroom window, several cars were seen stopping briefly and then some shady looking people scurrying back to the cars after their transactions !!
They had an all night party as well until 4 am and kept the whole place awake.
He also have free run of the laundry room and looked as if he was doing own.
Everything about this hotel was extremely tired. The room was cold and the duvets were paper thin. We had to drape towels over the duvets and we slept in our clothes to try and keep warm. The carpets were filthy. The beds weren’t very inviting with ill fitted sheets that very clearly inside out

Portland lodge stay
No heating in room for two nights, with freezing weather outside, general cleanliness was poor with tired looking furniture etc in room, staff were very accommodating and helpful but conditions of hotel let them down
Terrible terrible terrible could not even check in
We could not stay at the hotel because after standing at reception for 30 minutes, ringing the bell and calling the number, no one came to reception. We had to go and find alternative accommodation. I have sent numerous emails to the hotel and they do not reply
The bed was comfortable and the lady on reception was very helpful when my 2 year old granddaughter was poorly. However my room was cold and smelled musty. The carpets everywhere were dirty and shabby, the bathroom was in need of a complete makeover. The glasses on the breakfast table were filthy. I couldn’t wait to leave. I won’t be back!
The room hadn’t been cleaned so we were moved to another which seemed ok till nite time and all you could smell was vile drainage.
The breakfast I wouldn’t even feed to my dog it was cooked in dirty oil and the sausages were just reheated we were given a refund as complained on the spot
On arrival at approximately 18.45pm, the reception was manned and I was shown to my room on the ground floor 😀(room change due to not able to climb stairs - hip issue)
There was no heating switched on, no spare bedding, the bathroom was not up to hygienic standards - toilet bowl was limescale stained and what looked like droppings or crumbs? on the floor. Checked the bed and it looked like it had just been tidied up and had my doubts whether clean bedding was used.
Went to reception and no-one was there to speak to regarding the issues and as it was late, I was also tired from a long journey, decided to make the best of things. In the morning, I tried twice to go to the dining room for breakfast, but the door was locked. I phoned the reception number to enquire about getting breakfast and got no answer. About an hour approx., I received a call and the lady said that as I had not ordered it, no breakfast was available and I had only paid for bedroom. The place is a B & B.! It also stated on the receipt for the room, breakfast was proved but would have to pay for it.!
I also asked if I could leave the room a half hour later than 10.30am and she wasn’t happy and said - “huh, alright, I’ll have to clean the room tomorrow then.!”
The bedroom door had to be slammed to shut it, but that was explained to me by the receptionist when I arrived.
I experienced a cold and uncomfortable night and do not recommend anyone to stay there for any price. H&S issues - needs inspection.
The money i paid for hotel was to much i paid 416 pound for hotel breakfasts where pre cooked the breakfast room very dirty and same dirty table cloths on every day young lads smoking drugs in there rooms when there was no smoking at all we left hotel on wednesday morning which was 2 days early cuz we couldnt stand any more ,im a disabled veteran and was lloking forward to a good holiday but didnt get i think i deserve a refund cuz we only had 2 breakfasts as well while we where there bed linen was never changed very un happy
A friendly welcome from reception but ammenities in room poor heating not working in room bathroom light out . Short staffed at breakfast so one lady cooking all breakfasts, milk tasted off, it was cheap compated to other hotels so we hadnt expected to much but a few changes here and there coukd make hotel a decent option.
all the doors were sticking and same with other rooms s o . when guests went out or came back it was very loud bang.room not clean smelt and was damp and very cold.so pleased we only stayed one night
Our room had holes in the ceiling around the fire alarm and wardrobe, the windows and entire shower were disgustingly mouldy- I’ve never seen a shower so mouldy- the duvet was stained and the wood of the bed was chipped, the carpet felt sticky and dirty and didn’t even fit the floor properly, the entryway and hallway smelled overpoweringly of weed and there were some really dodgy people around during the day and the night - the only good thing is that the bedroom door locked

Cheap and cheerful, you get what you pay for. A good location, friendly staff and a good breakfast. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed but well worth the money for an overnight stay.
Unfortunately the hotel was absolutely disgusting there was mould and rust all around in the bathroom and tge carpets looked like they hadn't been hoovered. The hotel seems to be in a state of disrepair with rubbish strewn around outside and tge whole place is in desperate need of painting
The rooms were basic but clean. Breakfast was ok but had better however, they were friendly and helpful letting you know where you can eat nearby, directions to place's. Shower worked lovely towels a little on the small side and no shower cream in there holders.

Not a bad place to stay for a few nights all was ok
The room smelled old and humid, the bedsheets were humid and stained, the door was difficult to handle, the bathroom was mouldy, the glasses in the breakfast room were dirty, the windows were dirty in our room.
Overall it is an old establishment badly sustained, with no proper cleaning done just superficial, we were surprised it has not been shut down based on the conditions especially for a supposed 3 stars. Would not recommend
