This properties level of cleanliness is terrible. The young man that helped us to get clean linen and towels was very nice. The room needed a complete cleansing. The buildings steel stairwell in rusted almost clean through. In my opinion this property need too many repairs and upgrades.

I requested one night and they want to charge me for TWO nights plus a $300. damage deposit ! I've never seen such
When I first got to the hotel, it looked abandoned - dark windows. A lady passing by let me know I had to check in at a gas station down the street. There was no staff on site. The person at checkin said I could call if I needed anything. I did end up calling once but the answering machine said they were busy. After getting back to the hotel from checking, we had to tell someone where to checkin. That process seemed unclear. The building looked like it was undergoing upgrades on the outside. The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable.
We never even checked in. We arrived at 4:00 pm on a Friday. The windows were blacked out, the doors were locked, and there was a big sign that said something like, "IF YOU'RE CHECKING IN OR OUT, GO TO THE PETROCAN GAS STATION ACROSS THE STREET." Seriously? We went and found another hotel as fast as we could. On the plus side, when I called to cancel, he was good about it and didn't charge me.
We booked on-line and when we arrived to check in were greeted by a notice on the door that we had to go across the street to a gas station to check in. This reference is not covered in any of the promotion for this hotel. One we had the key and entered the room, we noted that the door bolt was not functioning but the door did lock with a chain for additional security. The TV remote was a challenge to power on the TV and did stop at the gas station to inform "desk". They said they would notify the "young man" who registered us and he showed up about an hour later. The bottom of tub was dirty and the rubber mat as filthy. The bed mattress was soft preventing a good nights sleep. The window curtain was too short because several hooks were missing thus the room was exposed.
Old decrepit motel get keys from gas station across renew st. Just a junk place. Shame on me for staying there

Needs improving.
room was good size for family. but it was a inconvenience to drive down the road blocks to the actual office in check in and out. some things were missing in the room which was on the website. service was good, depends who was at the desk some people didn't know what going on with check ins. Needs more training. but would recommend large family stays. thank you.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Older building. Significant effort to update and make rooms nice. Kitchen available. Staff helpful and informative about Port Alberni. Would certainly stay again.
Clean hotel, check inn was at the Gas Station across the road, but was fast and friendly. Nice to have the full kitchen, and a.c. was adequate.

A diamond in the rough A+
This is an older motel and could use a little love but don't let that fool you:)
I stayed here with my gf and another friend couple on our way to Tofino for the weekend to break up our trip. We took the last ferry from Vancouver and were worried we would be to late to check in as per the description but was put as ease with a quick phone call to motel to be told we will be able to check in across the street at the gas station.
We got to Port Alberni around 1030 and check in at the gas station as per the call we made.
The guy that check us in was AWESOME as he recognized we were probably the last people checking in that night (Port Alberni was a ghost town this night which was nice coming from Vancouver) and upgraded our 2 queen room to a full 2 bedroom suite, basically an apartment!! he also gave us a town map , explained where we were and where we should hit up in the morning for breakfast, THE DONUT SHOP does not disapoint!!!!
Thank you Alberni Inn, you started our mini Vaca off right!!!
We will be staying here again next time through:)

Nice views of the mountains
We were happy to have a kitchenette! And the mugs the first night were nice to drink out of. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. All and all it was everything we needed.
This was the only hotel with room available when i needed last minute accomodations for one night, i was apprehensive looking at the picture on expedia, and the fact it was a very low cost hotel but i found my room to be clean and stocked with everyting you would expect. The bathroom did not look the age of the hotel, it wasnt run down, it might have been renovated, my only issue is my room was facing the loud street, but i was so tired it didnt matter,
Bedsheets never got changed the four nights we stained, and the floors very noisy due to loos floor boards. Will not go back

It was fine - and good amount of room for the price - just not what I expected. Clean but with minimal additions (e.g. No soap or shampoo). check in is down the street at the Esso
Horrible got money back for second night have a good room and took it away because our pet was not small enough it's a Bassett hound. Gave us dirty mouldy room which I refused gave another old dirt room no full kitchen I toaster oven no stove. Was harassed by neighbors livening there.
We had a great experience at the Alberni Inn. We called ahead and said we would be arriving later in the evening and they said i could check-in anytime before 11pm. This was great because we wanted to stop on do some sightseeing on the way. The next day we went to Tofino and returned to Port alberni for a second night. All together still cheaper and more enjoyable than just 1 night in Tofino!
Bad, bad, bad. We arrived to find the doors to the lobby locked saying to go down the road to the gas station to inquire?? We went down the road and took forever to 'check in' and get the key. We arrived to a musty smelling room, the bed in the living area unmade, a bucket and mop in the middle of the floor. We called '0' and they came fairly quickly to make the bed. They came back to mop the floor which was left sticky. The table in there had something sticky spilled on it. The bathroom was dirty with a broken door frame. All in all it was a bad experience. NEVER again will I book at this one!!!

The hotel was a bit run down. Small and old. Bathroom had no electrical outlet. No hair dryer. Had to ask the manager for it. The plus side is there are electric stoves and cookwares. The manager is helpful.
You can delay updating for so long but then it gets to the point where you will get nothing but bad reviews. The carpets and stained couch need to go. Lino needs a good scrub. Shower curtain replaced. Pillows replaced. Hooks in bathroom to hang towels. There's no counter top so hooks are needed to hang things. Retro decor I can handle but when basic functional things aren't there like a proper pillow to sleep on or a hook to hang my towel on I get upset. Remote controls need disinfecting. I'm no neat freak or germaphobe but man I won't tolerate grime buildup. Driving down the road to the gas station to check in and out is ridiculous.
