It was a cute, quaint, and cozy inn, converted from the original 1830 town post office and general store. This was a pleasant surprise, as we had not known this before booking. The room had a great Casper mattress and MyPillows, which made for good sleeping. However, the room was also a bit drafty and very dry. There was also no cell service there, which did make the stay a little unpleasant. However, if you are looking for a place to really get away and off the grid, this is a really quaint old inn with friendly staff.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
I pulled up in the evening to a very confusing sign not sure where to park and was scolded I was in the wrong area from a guy through a window upstairs. I went in to The laby no one downstairs at 9 PM called hello and no one to greet me finally looked around and found my name with a K went upstairs to my room 2 AM outside hallway noisy creaky lots of people leaving I thought it might be early morning for breakfast but it was not. Another grouping around 8 AM noisy I finally got up at nine and went downstairs to know people … There was no one in the lobby again to say goodbye only a note to drop your key into a locked box I never saw a person anywhere on site not even a small station for coffee or tea.
I have stayed here in the past and was pleased to find new memory foam mattresses, at least in the room I was in. Very comfortable. Charming, homey, a bit rustic.

No personal touch. Didn’t see a person for any services. No food available at anytime. Not quite what I thought it would be

Close to Calvin Coolidge homestead. Room cleaned once in 3 nights. The coffee you had to make and clean up afterwards. The fruit that was promised in writing at check in was denied later verbally.
This rustic, dormitory style "hotel" was advertised as 12 miles from Rutland, VT on Hotels.com. The mileage from Rutland on my car was almost double that. A representative at the "hotel" said that Expedia was responsible for the advertisement and the information about location was not the responsibility of the "hotel". I did not know that Hotels.com is owned by Expedia. What say you, Hotel.com?

When we arrived, host was there giving keys to the rooms. Our room was on 3rd floor, narrow stairs. There was just fans in the windows,no air conditioning. In the morning there was nobody by host stand, made coffee, refrigerator was out of order, no cream. It was quiet at night even it was located in intersection 1and 1a
Had to wait till 4 to check in, tv didn’t work, my wife tried to contact someone from the phone in the room and was unable to reach anyone, no air conditioning, heard at least 10 gunshots in the woods
Établissement vieillo, charmant et tranquille.
Il y a une petite cuisine avec tout le nécessaire (frigidaire, ustensiles, assiettes, grille-pain, etc.) Nous pouvons nous faire du café le matin.

It was just rather sad as I was the only one at
the Inn due to it being end of ski season.
There was no breakfast; a v nice Colombian
was care taking the Inn.
But the room was sweet - all wooden with
Nice clean ironed sheets, very comfortable
Bed and nice clean white towels.
I would stay again. Caroline.
The hotel itself is fine - comfy bed, good wifi, working televisions. There's nothing around the hotel, so you will have to drive to get to anywhere (food/bars/etc.), but that's just the nature of the area I think. There seems to be one proprietor, and he met us at 1am to give us our keys, so that was nice. If you're looking for a basic hotel to stay kind of near Okemo, Salt Ash Inn is a solidly ok choice.

Ok place
For the price ok. Was disappointed that the pub was closed as there is not much in immediate area. Bed was super uncomfortable. Not bad for one night, but wouldn’t stay much longer. So much potential...
Very friendly, comfortable accommodations. The Inn is old, so expect yester-year charm. There was a heavy snowstorm 1 night, and it was a bit of work to get our cars dug out of the parking spots in the morning, but once we dug out, the roads were plowed and we were off to Okemo. Having access to a refrigerator in the communal dining space was great for storing a few breakfast & lunch items. The bar closed early each night, but not a huge deal.
The guy was nice, he is accommodating.
The room is clean, BUT! IT WAS FREEZING!! The temp was only 56, we set it to 68, note said it can only go up to 68, but I woke up in the middle of the night freezing and the temp went down to 53!! Good thing I bundled up my 3y/o daughter really good!!
This is a great place to stay near both Killington (7 miles to Skyeship base) and Okemo (10 miles to Jacson Gore base) ski resorts. The room was spacious and clean. Check in was a a little funky - the key is waiting for you inside a reception area accessed via the bar, but was fine. The parking was a little confusing: the spaces are behind the main building (the owner prefers that you not park in "front" of the building - we only paid attention to the signs after we had turned into the private lot - sorry!). The price was very competitive compared to other places in the area. Great experience; would definitely stay there again.
