"Exceptional B&B in Beautiful English Countryside
We were looking for a scenic place to rest up after our overnight flight to the UK from the USA and found this amazing place.
Located in a beautiful, rural area with plenty to see and experience nearby. The property is stunning and very well-maintained.
John and Elizabeth were amazing hosts. Warm, genuinely friendly, accommodating, and fascinating in their own life experiences. It's not every day that you get to meet an Olympic medalist!

"I can't fault this hotel or the staff we met. We had a great night's sleep in a very comfortable bed. Lovely touches like a mini bar with complimentary soft drinks. It is in a central location, and apart from the fact it doesn't have a car park it is an ideal place to stay. A special shout out to Jenny at reception who went out of her way to be helpful."
"The room was mostly clean, just the edges of the carpets needed a bit extra but this seems to be quite common in hotels. We was surprised at how big it was. It's a bit dated but was perfect for one night. The bathroom was a good size. Again needs a little tidying up in places but overall was good. Shower was very powerful.
Breakfast was great. All the usual choices, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages etc, then cheese, ham, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast, bagels, mini doughnuts, tea, coffee, juices. Plenty of choice. I was very happy after reading mixed reviews.
The foyer has loads of sofas to sit at. After going to the theatre we sat and had a drink and chatted and it was very relaxing.
All the staff were very helpful and pleasant and the hotel is situated right opposite the hippodrome so is in a perfect position, also, for all the bars and restaurants in that area, next to the harbour. Was about a 10 minute walk to main shopping area.
For the money this was the perfect hotel for our theatre trip and I would definitely consider staying here again."
"Very long distances to the rooms. All vehicle chargers broken. Overcrowded, especially at breakfast. Breakfast bacon hard and turned over on itself and cemented to itself. £35 steak tough - no information about how many days hung. Small bowls for cereal, small glasses for orange juice. Good variety of cereals at breakfast. Dining areas always very noisy - loud guffaws and very loud conversations. Guests at dinner in Bermuda shorts. Parking too far away from reception. Staff always helpful. Rooms lovely - large and well designed. Good design throughout hotel, especially pottery."
"On arrival were greeted by a friendly man on reception and check in was smooth.
We were in room 105.
The room was cleaned to a satisfactory level.
A couple of hairs were found on the pillow cases.
The bathroom was clean but the quality of the toilet roll was the worst I’ve ever experienced.
The only real issue we had with the room was the mattress.
It needs throwing away and replacing.
There was a huge dip in the middle of the mattress and as a heavily pregnant woman, I couldn’t get comfortable and had an awful nights sleep.
Breakfast was a very basic continental breakfast but it served its purpose and filled a hole!
I would return here, however I would make sure to inspect the mattress before bedtime in order to be able to speak to reception before it’s too late. And I would take my own toilet roll!"
"Hotel is in an excellent location. It is surrounded by restaurants and cafes and it is within an easy 5 min walk of the hippodrome theatre. A decent size secure carpark is across a small, quiet road from the hotel. The room was large and clean. The breakfast was good- plenty of choice and easy to find a table. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
It is a large hotel but only has 2 lifts which state they hold 8 but were full with 5 in. It was a very busy weekend as the Bristol half marathon was on the
Sunday but only one of the lifts were working so there were always long waits for the lift. We were on the 3rd floor and due to the hotel’s location could hear music and people until after midnight. The noise wasn’t particularly loud but I could see some guests having an issue with it. "
"We arrived and got put in a small room where the windows wouldn’t open and the camp bed for our daughter was broken, but after a disappointing start we were moved into a much nicer room with the staff being very lovely about it. The rest of the stay was wonderful, it’s a short stroll into Bath Centre, the spa whilst very busy and cramped at times was nicer when it was quieter, the breakfast room was quite special although the fruit selection could have been a bit broader the hot breakfast was delicious. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful, all in all we had a very nice stay and would definitely stay again."
"Lovely hotel in a good location. Parking at Charlotte street was easily pre paid online. Rooms were huge with comfortable beds and a great shower and were very quiet. Would have liked bottled water in addition to the teas and coffees supplied but it’s a minor point.
Pool was fab, we had it all to ourselves! Good breakfast with a cold self serve buffet then an excellent choice of hot food to order along with cappuccinos, lattes etc.
Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely visit again."
