A Very Nice One Night Stay

We really enjoyed our one night stay in Emma’s Cottage, with its elegant period decor. The owners, Elmare and Kobus were very warm and friendly, sharing the history of the area and the farm and preparing us an amazing gourmet dinner in their restaurant.

Be very careful if booking this property especially through Expedia. While booking a series of properties for a tour of the western cape I failed to notice that the calendar on the third booking, Rietfontein, had reverted to the current date this year instead of the date we reqd for next year. This was realised as soon as the confirmation came thru and Expedia were contacted immediately. Unfortunately neither Expedia or the Hotel were prepared to change the booking to the dates reqd. The attitude being that we have your money its not our problem .. Not really what could be considered customer service. Needless to say I would not book this hotel if it were the only one left at my destination nor will Expedia play any part in my future holiday plans..

Beautiful setting, fabulous breakfast.

It was only when we arrived we were advised we would not be staying directly on the property but in the cottage 1 km away from the main house. We felt this could have been communicated to us beforehand as we had received contact from most other places we stayed in on our trip. It was disappointing to find this out as was looking forward to staying here and would have liked to have gotten some history about the place. However the cottage we did stay in was very nice, very tastefully decorated and in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Breakfast the next morning back in the main building was fabulous and one of the best I had on this trip. We ate dinner at nearby Karooboom restaurant and would recommend if in the area.

Wunderschönes, sehr gepflegtes Haus inmitten einer atemberaubend schönen Landschaft. Wir waren in der Dependance untergebracht, was uns im ersten Augenblick etwas verwirrt hat, wo wir uns dann aber sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Die Zimmer und das ganze Haus sind sehr sauber und bis ins kleinste Detail gepflegt. Das absolute Highlight ist das Essen ...sei es das Frühstück wie auch das Abendessen sind mit so viel Liebe und Können zubereitet! Ein großes Kompliment an die Hausherrin! Wunderschön und sehr gepflegt sind auch der Garten, samt dem kleinen Pool! Schade dass wir nur zwei Tage für diesen tollen Ort eingeplant hatten, hier wären wir gerne etwas länger geblieben!

Ein romantisches manor

Wunderbar ruhig gelegenes Herrenhaus, man fühlt sich wie ein Gast des Straussenbarons persönlich, aber mit modernem Komfort, geräumiges Zimmer, großes Bad, weitläufiger Garten, fantastisches Dinner und Frühstück auf der Veranda, sagenhafter Blick in die in der Morgensonne rot leuchtenden Berge, sehr nette Gastgeber. War ein Highlight auf unserer Reise.
