Not good this time
Can be a bit hit or miss with this place some rooms are fine others are not due to noise through the walls (loud Americans)and various fans and extractors being loud. Also the shower was very poor. All in not worth £100 for a night.
Nice hotel, we only stayed for one night but staff were very friendly. Room was small but very clean with sea view. Good breakfast and reasonably priced. This is an old hotel but has character. Will definitely stay there again.
Very disappointed in the lacklustre, underfurnished, deserted hotel with no obvious catering on site. Like living on the Marie Celeste. WiFi (and therefore streaming TV channels) did not work in our room - which was very inconvenient and if the weather had been bad, it would have been infuriating. The location and sea view were the only positives for me, the latter less enjoyable because of the perfunctory furnishing. Therefore vastly overpriced.

Stayed one night on room only basis. Not worth £110 for basic room and tiny bathroom of which door didn’t close.
It was ok tv broken electric socket not working room small but its what i paid for
Food was very good breakfast as much as u wanted staff very polite and helpful
Overall 8/10
Location is great if you want to be in the centre and worth requesting a sea/bay view.
Friendly staff.
It's an old building so don't expect modern touch but it has everything one needs as a hotel bedroom.
Will be very happy to stay again.
Hotel is in a great location in Oban with easy walking access to everything.
Junior suite on the top floor offered a decent view over the harbour area. Room and the hotel in general were in good condition but could do with an upgrade in certain areas. The lift is extremely small and has self operated concertina type doors. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We didn’t eat or drink in the hotel. There are 8 free hotel parking spaces in the adjacent public car park
All in all, it was good. The view out the window was pretty (we had a sea-view room). The elevator is ancient, and its doors have to be manually closed or else it stays where it is, meaning that someone on another floor can't summon it, and therefore, has to take the stairs. The TV monitor was also ancient, and had no HDMI input, which meant I couldn't watch Netflix on it via my laptop. Both of these are of course minor things. The location is excellent - lots of places within walking distance. The restaurant was pretty good, and accessible without going outside. Be sure to make reservations, because like all places, they get booked up.
We stayed there for 2 nights as we visited Oban for a weekend. It was a nice stay. The room was clean and tidy and probably one of the best rooms I've stayed in wrt the view from the room. There was a bit of an issue with the bathroom with the water pressure in the shower which was nill. It was a real tough time taking the shower. we reported this and hope that the next guests don't face the same issue.
However, the view from the room and the breakfast in the morning were big winners.
Pleasant old fashioned hotel. Very clean with a decent breakfast.

Oban break
We love coming to Oban and the Columba is a great location. Property aging now. Breakfast disappointing, had always been a plus point. Served barely warm from trays, not fresh. Staff lovely as always.

Columba Hotel Pluses and Minuses - 7/10 overall
The Columba was an OK 3 * hotel given its price range.
Good points:
Centrally located, friendly staff, good individually cooked breakfast and good COVID precautions set-up.
Room for improvement:
The double bed was a bit hard and the bathroom needed a makeover - in particular the shower grouting.
Early morning traffic was pretty noisy - no double glazing.

You would think with COVID the room and toilet would have been cleaner
Perfect hotel, staff very friendly, room was very spacious and very clean, we had a sea view room and it was perfect sitting on a night time watching the people enjoying themselves, hotel is ideal for every type of people I would certainly recommend this hotel
Clean rooms, good views across the bay and an easy to follow one way system around the hotel with hand sanitiser to help minimize the Covid 19 risk.

The breakfast was not good
Guests complained. Staff did not take payment for it. Quite right. This spoilt what would have been a pleasant stay in Oban.
