Waterfront Bush Escape on Port Stephens
Unwind and recharge at this peaceful waterfront cottage on the tidal shores of Port Stephens. Nestled in the quiet streets of North Arm Cove, this two-bedroom retreat is the perfect city escape—private, tranquil, and surrounded by native Australian bushland and wildlife.
Step out onto the expansive front deck to soak up sweeping views across the cove, enjoy a hammock nap in the gentle breeze, or wander down to the water’s edge for a swim or explore the tidal rock flats (sea shoes recommended). Just 100 metres away you’ll also find a small sandy beach—ideal for a swim, paddle, or simply relaxing with your toes in the sand.
Days here can be as adventurous or as relaxed as you choose. Try your hand at fishing, take bushwalks through the surrounding natural landscape, or explore the cove by Kayak, the best way to see the area. Back at the cottage, the garage doubles as a fun games room with table tennis, darts, and push bikes for exploring. As evening falls, gather around the outdoor fire pit for stargazing and storytelling—a truly Australian way to end the day.
For quiet moments indoors, you’ll find a full library of books, a DVD player with a collection of movies, internet access, and Chromecast so you can stream your favourites. Whether you’re curled up in the sunroom, enjoying a family movie night, or reading on the deck, this cottage has everything you need for relaxation and connection.

The house was cute with lovely views of the water. The only downside we had to travel 20 to 25 minutes to teach Tea Gardens or Hawks Nest Beach for swimming and dining out. Hawks nest and Tea Gardens did not have much of variety for dining such as Italian food. We drove to Nelson’s Bay for activities, dining, shopping and swimming. Otherwise the accomodation was pleasant.

Will be back
This property was beautiful. Nothing could beat waking up and watching the sun rise over the water while enjoying a cup of coffee on the deck. We were visited by beautiful wild life and the area is quiet and serene.
However, I would suggest updating the way of key collection as it was incredibly hard to access and took us much longer than it should have. The hot water tap in the shower is also leaky, so if you take your children just be careful of that, I burnt myself once or twice. Overall I was very happy with my stay and will definitely be booking again.

Basic accommodation with a great view
What we love -The view and sunriseWhat we didn’t like or can be improved-- The driveway had lots of weeding and it was very hard to find the entry to driveway specifically at night. There was a very small solar light left at the entryway which was not working at nights.- The bedroom mattress was mouldy smelly.- We paid for the linen rent and we have been told on the phone that it will be all set for us. But there was just a big bag of sheets, pillowcases ect which we had to put on. Not something you want at your holidays specially when you are paying for it.- The back deck was full of leaves and droppings. We had to clean that up even on the day one to make it use.- Suggest you clean up the kids area specially the bookshelves. As most of the books and toys had small bugs and dust in them. - The dvd player and Netflix wasn’t working at all!!
Heavenly location
Nothing but the tranquility of the cove & chirping birds.
The property is extremely well equipped. They provide anything and everything including sound system, dvd players a massive collection of dvds, three tvs,a huge collection of books, wide option of kitchen utensils, bbq.
The beds are super comfy.
It seems the property does not get cleaned. There was a thick dust on the fridge, toilet sink and floor and the shower everywhere were dirty.
Beautiful spot, fantastic screened in deck and great place to relax . Not the spot if you want any amenities round the corner . Three lounge areas so lots of spots to relax. Plenty of books if that is your passion .
The fan in main bedroom does not work.
Will go back
Nothing beats BBQ bacon and eggs on the deck as the sun rises over the Cove in the morning, then feeding the local birds! All the basic comforts of home in a clean and tidy house. Caters for all weather conditions that you can expect when staying on the coast.
Thanks to the owners for allowing us to stay at their getaway, and the job they have done with it.
It was a very last minute fishing getaway for myself and my 16yo son. My 17yo daughter and one of her friends also decided to tag along and sunned themselves on the fanatastic front lawn hammocks for a couyple of days before bussing it back to Sydney.
Very well equipped (much better than expected) and very comfortable, especially the main bed. The managing agent could better describe the property as tidal waterfront (I had a 15ft boat with me) and it would be helpful if there was some sort of inclusion list, eg flour, oils, salt, cling wrap etc. I emailed the agent asking for one but as I wasn't given a response ended up taking way more than was necessary which was very annoying as this place had just about everything.
The kids unaminously voted yes when asked if they would stay here again so mission successful.
Quiet paradise!
The sun kisses the water as it rises over the bay. What a way to start a day! In the evening the sand is alive with crabs as they scurry for food. What a delight.

lovely Place to visit
The area is beautiful and the house is ok the utensils were not washed properly as I pull out a greasy cutting board and so we washed anything before we used it, Their was at least 10 spider's in the sunroom area on windows and on the roof one lounge is webby with a spider on it so if you don't mind sharing the sunroom with spiders this place is relaxing and beautiful
although you don't get the wharf in the photo it's advertising other then that its a great place to visit.
The view is beautiful.

Not clean.
No Covid 19 safety applied. Bathroom not clean, lounge room seating not clean, under floor rug not clean, BBQ not clean.
Cutlery and cups not clean. Paid the money up front and got all this in return. Disappointing
Lovely weekend at this comfy home. Quiet location. Stunning views. Great for families- lots of books, games for kids. Huge deck overlooking water. Fantastic service from property management team- nothing too much trouble.
Outstanding place, outstanding communication with the property managment
Dealing with the property management people was outstanding. They were always so helpful and super organised. The place it self had everything we needed. The bed in the main bedroom was the best bed I ever slept on apart from my own. The view was unbelievable and the neighbourhood was peaceful and relaxing. It definitely makes you forget the world for a while. This place let’s you get back to nature.
Thank you for your amazing hospitality, you were all amazing :-)
