This is a nice hotel to stay at if you want to stay right in the heart of Niagara on the Lake. It's expensive and could use a little freshening up, but it was nice for an overnight getaway.
We were treated great and the hotel was awesome. We liked it so much that we will stay there again next time we visit Niagra On The Lake.

Huge waste of money
We love the vintage hotels. Pillar and post and millcroft are our favorite. Prince of Wales was our least favorite. Very pretentious undeserved. Food was very disappointing. The hotel is not designed for children at all. Only plus was the tea room which was wonderful but you don't need to be a guest to enjoy that. Would not return - very big let down.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Romantic weekend
Friendly and accommodating staff.
Room was a little tired but clean.
Has a fun bar which we enjoyed.
Anniversary weekend. The stay was very relaxing. About our only dislike was the room while very well decorated was a little darker than we would have liked. Painted a dark blue which was conducive for light. Overall nice stay. We would go back.
Jan 16 2016 we arrived at the Prince of Wales Hotel for a wedding event and overnight stay. We were greeted warmly by the staff as we checked in.
We were given a room and as we entered there was a very strong smell. We immediately opened all the windows and aired out the room. We noticed that the wallpaper was coming off the walls in serval places also.
Upon entrance to the washroom we were surprised to see mold along the bathtub tiles. Was also noted that there was patches of wall paper in the bathroom that were used to cover imperfections.
We then noticed 3 oranges that were left for us in the living room table. When we picked them up one was rotten and completly rotten on the bottom.
I would not expect this in a 100 dollar a night room and in this case we were paying 350 a night. At this price point you would never expect the conditions that were present.
I did inform through an email of the conditions and our dissatisfaction. The information was given in a very professional matter with out even looking for compensation. I waited for 5 days after the email was sent with no response.
At this point I resent the email and asked for acknowledgement. With no response.
I would not suggest this hotel. no customer service and little regard to their customers and the valuable feed back that they offer.
Absolutely the worst stay I have ever experienced in well over 1000 hotels I have stayed in.
Our time at Niagara on the Lake was truly marvellous. The Prince of Wales was the highlight of the trip. Most noted was afternoon tea in the elegant salon and the extra soft bedding in our rooms.
We live only an hour away but wanted a get away that was sureal.
The hotel is located right downtown and has all the charm of the surrounding area. Service, amenities and cleanliness was excellent.
Plan on going back very soon.
Magnificent 65th birthday at Prince of Wales hotel
My husband saved all year long to provide me with a memorable 65th birthday celebration in your hotel. we were treated marvelously by all .. your staff, bell boys, rose lady, etc,,, I feel blessed by your attention to details and comfort..... I will remember it always,,,, Christine M. Meyers
We had our Golden wedding anniversary at this hotel. We wanted something different and memorable. A fabulous vintage hotel , employing knowledgeable, friendly, efficient staff.
We arrived into our suite, where there was champagne waiting and every night a rose on the pillow.
Lots of personal touches, to make our stay extra special,
Staff were very attentive to our needs
Everything was great except dinner at the pub. My meal was delivered 20 minutes after my husband finished his. They didn't charge me for it, but it was annoying nonetheless.
Spent one night for a quick get away. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. Staff were friendly, room was comfortable. There was a parking charge which baffles me as most hotel guests drive a car...charge those not staying in the hotel instead of paying guests. I would definitely recommend though. It's an excellent hotel.
The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of everything. The room was very large with an actual living room with sofa, wing chairs, large table and additional chairs. We could have easily entertained at least ten people in the room. Very large bathroom with jacuzzi tub and separate shower that can probably fit three people. There is even a towel warmer! The room decor is very Victorian. The only complaint is the comfort of the bed. It was a king size bed with probably an old mattress, converted with a removable "pollow-top" covering. Unfortunately, the mattress was extremely worn in the centre of the bed, which made sleeping and getting comfortable very difficult. If you sleep on the right or the left, you would automatically roll to the centre of the bed. At the price of the hotel stay, they should really get new mattresses.
It was a lovely getaway for us. Love Niagara-On-The-Lake.
Really enjoyed the high tea. Nice selection of food. Decorations for Christmas are lovely. Pleasure to stay there.
This is a beautiful inn in the heart of Niagara on the Lake. The lobby is beautiful, art filled, ornate, filled with bouquets of fresh roses. Long walk to our room involving stairs and sort of tired carpets and walls. Room was small but nice, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast at the restaurant was excellent...pay for the breakfast as part of your room package for a better deal....
Once again our great experience with the room and check-in was negated by a very disappointing experience with the restoration aspect of this hotel. With dinner from room service, where they called us four times to confirm various aspects of our order (including things that were on the menu but not available) and also with breakfast from room service as well, where we waited an hour and a half for coffee and croissants. We are very sorry because this used to be one of our favorite places!
We were disappointed we didn't get the Jacuzzi tub and I booked in August. The room was noisy as the sidewalk and street are right in front of our room. The toilet was not cleaned after our first night which led us to think the bathroom wasn't cleaned at all. At $700 for two nights we would fully expect that they clean the bathroom. I sent an e-mail to the hotel about this the same day we returned which was 4 days ago and have had no response. We expect a lot for the rates we were charged as well as a response.
