The staff were helpful and welcoming and the extra effort for the Great North Run was appreciated. The hotel is in a great location. The sheets were a bit scratchy and the pillows rock hard so this wasn’t great for a good nights sleep.

I have stayed at this hotel on two occasions recently and have been very impressed each time. The rooms are of an excellent standard. The breakfast buffet is extremely good and the bar staff are very friendly. Receptionist Ella was particularly helpful .

The staff were excellent. A really charismatic manager at the desk checked us in, recommended a few pubs and even pulled out a deck of cards out of his pocket to show us a magic trick. The rest of the staff, from the cleaning staff, to the bar staff were all really friendly and chatty. Definitely the highlight of the stay. My only minor complaint was the amount of construction noise happening during the refurb of some of the rooms in a hotel. There were skips being emptied at quite unsociable hours that woke us all up.
