To stay at the Cornstalk was a real treat! The history and the age of the building just makes it more charming. It was nice to sit on the balcony and people watch. Parking is limited but the staff makes sure everyone fits. Hope to stay there again!

It's a great spot in the quarter but --
It's a great spot in the quarter but -- No thermostat in my room, which ran hot and cold all night. The door lock on the door is not really a lock. I could have easily have opened my door with a credit card. The woman at the front desk in the afternoon at check in was great. The woman in the morning scowled at me when I handed her my key and said "Thanks." Coffee in the morning in Styrofoam cups did transmit caffeine into my bloodstream, but that's about it.
This property was an amazing little gem in the heart of the French Quarter. The building is unique and like stepping into the past. Steps from great restaurants, bars, and a quick mart, everything you need is within walking distance. The rooms are comfortable and we had a balcony overlooking the parade route! This was great until we realized we had to catch a plane at 5 AM and needed to sleep, and well, the rest of the neighborhood was not planning to sleep. The only warning I would give is to be aware that this is a lively area and depending on the parade and party schedule, you may have trouble catching your winks!
This is a very cool, historic and classic New Orleans French Quarter hotel. The location is perfect for hanging out in the Quarter. We really enjoyed our stay but New Orleans had a cold snap and we froze in our room at night because the old heating system in the house just couldn't keep up with the unexpected cold snap. The staff tried to locate a portable heater for us but the one they found didn't work. Even with all of that we still enjoyed our stay.
They first put us on the 1st floor which was very hot when we got to our room we asked where the temp control was and on the first floor there is only one thermostat? Which they control we then moved to 2nd floor. Room was very small , run down, and only surface clean. No attention to details. Shower head was hanging by a thread sink was all clogged up and no water pressure had to ask for hangers! Bed posts and dressers were broken The only thing good was the coffee. And the location The town was booked so we had no choice but to stay. And they wouldn’t give a refund if we left. Overdue for renovations
We are from New Orleans but booked this because we have seen it all our lives and thought it would be fun to stay there. Sadly, it was not a good experience. The sheets and comforter were stained (at least I hope it was a stain and not just dirty)! The wallpaper was peeling off, carpet was dirty, windowsills were dirty and the furniture was faulty. The curtains were frayed, too. The room was small but I expected that. For almost $300 a night, I expected better.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Nice place. The service was very good. The only problem that we had was a severe lack of water pressure. The bathroom faucet would only trickle and the shower barely had enough pressure to come out of the shower head.
The property was beautiful and the staff was so accommodating.

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Property is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. However, for what this building is and considering its history, it is not managed or maintained in a way that shows care and appreciation. There is no customer service. The attendant was over heard on her phone having unprofessional conversations with her friends. There were broken pieces of antique furniture, beds were in poor condition and the property seems to be "half-ass" maintained. There is no assistance offered by staff with bags, no perks. One day, our room wasnt even serviced. For the price you pay, you do not get the service expected. However, the location and beauty of this historic home can make up for those things. Overall was happy with my stay, but there is a lot of improvement that could be done.

Cute Concept, but Stay Elsewhere
The idea and location are great! The room was way too small for the two of us, and we ended up leaving a night early to stay elsewhere because the bed was so uncomfortable.
Historic mansion, and in a good location. Inadequate lighting, burned out bulbs, many outlets didn't work, air conditioning was freezing cold with no way to control, many rats running freely at night in front patio, bathroom floor was very dirty, uncomfortable bed. The staff was difficult involving a billing dispute.
