Very nice guest house!

Friendly staffs were helping me a lot. Silent location makes real relaxation. Room is clean and large, there is a mosquito net.

Morning Star is The Best. Our stay there was just wonderful. Great staff. Peaceful, tranquil, ultra clean beautiful guesthouse. We recommend it totally. Ashini, & ALL the staff are beautiful, homely people. So helpful with cheerful smiles.

Oasi di pace

La guest House Morning star è una bella oasi di pace a Negombo che dista 5minuti a piedi dalla spiaggia! Ci siamo fermati qui l'ultima notte prima del volo di ritorno. Il giardino è bellissimo e molto curato. La nostra camera al primo piano era spaziosa, ben arredata e pulita. Dotata di tutti i comfort, anche un piccolo balcone! La colazione è abbondante ed ottima! Lo staff tutti gentilissimi e sorridenti. Ha una piccola piscina ben curata che abbiamo gradito molto, dato che il mare in questo periodo non è balneabile!!!! Da ritornare se di passaggio! Infine i ristoranti distano poco a piedi, appena sulla via c'è un ampia scelta!

Wir hatten die ersten zwei Nächte unseres Aufenthaltes dort verbracht. Gepflegter Garten mit kleinem Pool, freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal, Zimmer gross mit eigenem Bad und separatem Sitzbereich - sowohl innerhalb der Wohneinheit als auch direkt davor. Heißwasserkocher und Kühlschrank vorhanden.

Nice first hotel when arriving

1500 rupiah (A$15) taxi from airport 20 mins. Old hotel but clean and friendly staff. Nice food. Quiet. Will stay again last night before flying out.

Great value-for-money

Lovely welcoming staff, clean room and just what you would like to find (and rarely do) from a very reasonably priced hotel. The pool was clean and the interior garden and restaurant area a perfect place to relax. The owner really cares about his customers and it shows. Sri Lanka is getting increasingly expensive and we had low expectations arriving at this place at the end of our holiday because of the price - it was better than our first night in Colombo in a 4* hotel which cost 275% more... Would recommend without hesitation.

Lovely hotel close to the airport

It is about a 20 -25 minute drive from the airport. Down a narrow lane but tell your taxi driver he can turn around in the hotel grounds. Close to the beach where you can see the the fishermen sorting their catch. We had an apartment room with a double bed and a fan. Very clean, friendly staff, beautifully kept grounds with a swimming pool and gated so feels very safe. Lovely food and a great female proprietor. Given bottles of water with the room. Tea making facilities but no tea! Quite a characterless room but the rest of the grounds more than made up for that.

Does what it says on the Tin.

It wasn't what l was expecting but it did what it said it would and the staff where lovely and helpful at all times. This is not as close to the beach as l anticipated and whilst they have an arrangement with a beach club about 500 metres down the road to get in for free once you are there everything is chargeable such as the sun loungers. Negombo Town is a 12 minute tuk tuk ride away. There is a really good restuarant nearby oddly called Fish & Chips! Colombo airport is 20 minutes away so great location if you have an early morning flight. Expect to pay $15 USD one way. Lots of mosquitoes when we stayed. Bring your own Deet!

Toller Garten und hervorragender Service

Als Familie mit Kleinkind haben wir unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen, weil wir im Garten und am Pool spielen konnten und das Personal inklusive Besitzer extrem freundlich war. Das Frühstück, v.a. die asiatische Version, war sehr lecker und das Zimmer groß und sauber. Insgesamt sehr gut fur die 2 Nächte nach der Ankunft in Sri Lanka.

Hemtrevligt med fantastisk personal

Vi bodde på detta hemtrevliga och mycket välskötta hotell de två sista dagarna innan vi reste hem och det passade perfekt för oss (två vuxna och två barn - 6 och 4 år). Poolen var helt ok och maten var mycket god, personalen mycket trevlig och hjälpsam. Överlag en väldigt härlig känsla på hotellet. Området runtomkring är slitet men en kort promenad eller tuktuk-resa bort finns flera restauranger. Dessutom hade hotellet ett samarbete med en restaurang/hotell en bit bort där man kunde få låna solstolar gratis. Skulle absolut rekommendera detta hotell som ligger ca 20 min från flygplatsen.

perfect for family wishing an overnight stay

we are a family of 5 with three young kids. we arrived in Colombo at 9pm and had booked this guesthouse for an overnight stay. we are very happy we did so. Mr. Francis is a lovely host and the guesthouse is an oasis in Negombo. The rooms are basic but clean and quiet. Mr. Francis even turned on the pool lights at 10:30pm so that my tired, hot kids could have a late night swim. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Guesthouse arrange for a great driver (Ruwan) to drive us to Unawatuna the following day. I'd stay here again and, given the number of families I saw during our short visit, it's popularity is well earned.

Beautiful hotel, rooms/suites are set in a pretty garden. Rooms are large and well equipped. Really good breakfast and friendly/helpful staff. However the closest beach and surrounding area are not amazing.

Nice, quiet gateway to Sri Lanka

Our overnight stay at the Morning Star Guest House was the connection between our long international flight and the beginning of our Sri Lanka travels. It was the perfect choice for a reasonable price and quiet oasis. The guest house is in an alley, off the busy main beach road with walls surrounding a well-kept garden yard and pool. Upon check-in we were given cool, refreshing towels and juice. The manager generously upgraded us to a family suite from the triple we had booked since it was unoccupied. The family suite was huge- included a dining area, family room, bathroom and two bedrooms. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The bedrooms were air-conditioned and mosquito netting was provided. We were able to walk to the beach for a sunset view of the Indian Ocean and then return to the guest house for a dinner with dishes that just kept coming. The price for dinner was very reasonable. (my daughter had requested dinner ahead of time.) Breakfast was delicious and large- toast, eggs, fruit etc. My 5-star rating is for a reasonably priced guesthouse. You don't get the amenities you find in a luxury hotel, but this guesthouse has all you need for comfortable stay.
