The Kau Lodge is a great place to stay. Right kn the ocean, an awesome cafe and outdoors shop on the first floor and the staff is super accompdating to your needs. They ordered us a taxi transfer to the airport, let us store our bags when we did the W trek and we even checked in really late at night and someone was there to help us. The included breakfast was medicore and the rooms a tad small but everything was cozy and comfy and its super close to downtown and other restaurants.
We stayed 1 night at Kau lodge as we transitioned from Patagonia to Chiloé during our travels.
We arrived on a rainy Wednesday evening, and to our surprise their cafe is closed weekly on Wednesdays. Their location is not too far from the Plaza de Armas, which has many restaurants and shops near by.
The staff was friendly and went out of their way to accomodate an early breakfast for us the next day. Our room was plenty of space for two, and we had an amazing view out to the gulf. Overall exactly what we needed to catch some rest before a full day of travel.
One downside for any light sleepers out there is rooms with a view could be a bit noisy from the Avenida Pedro Montt traffic.
We ended up booking Kau Lodge last minute after high winds cancelled our trip down Rio Serrano. It was so clean and comfy with great views of the water. Breakfast was very good and they have real coffee. Big thanks to the hotel staff who helped us a ton with getting taxis and holding our luggage. We stayed in three different places in Puerto Natales (weskar lodge and the garden domes) and Kau is our favorite.
The property was exactly what I expected from the pictures and description. The rooms are small - very hostel like - comfortable. Staff were great and coffee shop has wonderful desserts.

No coffee in a coffee house...
Breakfast was a scam. In a coffee House there was no fresh coffee included in the breakfast, the breakfast was really basic and not fresh. Room and bathroom were Dirty when we arrived. The only good thing was the nice lady at the check-in that organized new blankets and cleaning. Not recommendable, better options in Puerto natales! No quality price relation.
A 5min a pé do centro.
Let's start with check in counter, i arrived at 1:20pm on 09 February and approached the reception to maybe check in early, she said "oh, check in is at 2pm!" without saying "i'm sorry that you can't check in yet". So, at exactly 2pm I approached the same lady and she asked me what I want, as if she didn't recognize me like there are more than 1 Asian guy in that hotel. Anyway, i said i'm checking in. She said: "can you give us another 10 minutes?" Later that night I went out to the common area on the second floor because wifi is soooo poor inside my room. I listened to a 35-second voice recorded message of my friend on my phone and put in speaker so i can write what she was saying but the receptionist asked me to not put it in speaker as other rooms are occupied, though it wasn't loud at all. anyway, her voice was louder than when i put my phone on speaker. The next day for breakfast, it was free. That was good. The lady at the check-in counter told me to sit on one of the chairs in the restaurant and someone will be there. i waited 5 minutes and the server just keeps going back and forth cleaning other tables. i finally told the server, i'm having breakfast. and she said: "go!" which means it's self-service. I did not know, i'm the only one there at that time. She should at least asked me because i'm sitting there and i'm the only guest there at the restaurant. And there's no egg! Definitely not staying there again!
We stayed at Kau 2 nights: 1 night before our trek to Torres del Paine and 1 after. We enjoyed both nights very much. The lodge and room decor is very cozy and the staff accommodating. We checked in pretty late on our first night and were met by a lovely older gentleman who expected us. He promptly checked us in so we can get some rest before our trek. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms clean. The walls are a bit thin and the lodge faces the outside street so you can hear some of the other guests and outside traffic. Not a huge issue at all. Also, if you want a blow dryer, they have a couple of floaters so ask for them at the desk (and return after use for other guests to use, please). Also, no TVs in room, which in our case, was perfectly ok. We also left half of our belongings at the lodge for a week during our trek with no issues. All very easy and very enjoyable experience. Definitely recommend.
Hotel is on the main road and close to the center of town. Room was good and decore was unique. Front desk staff was not helpful at all. Breakfast was so so. No eggs served unless you asked for it. No where on the breakfast information board it mansions that you can have eggs in buffet breakfast. We asked one time in our three nights stay, lady seemed extremely upset that she had to get up to fix us an egg. Not a good or courteous staff all around. In one month of our travel in Chile, this was the only bad staff experience.
Mkt god capucchino.

Fine for backpackers(not us)
The rooms are located above a coffee shop with soft seating, and an outdoor clothing shop. We stayed in two different rooms. The first room, for two nights, was a full/queen bed on the corner of the building. The view was great, and the bed was comfortable. After that, it went south. The bathroom plumbing emitted a constant smell of sewage and there wasn't a closet to hang anything. There were four hooks with hangars on them on the wall. So it turned your outdoor gear into an art installation. You had to borrow a hairdryer each day you wanted one. There was an included breakfast that consisted of a few slices of cold cuts and granola plus yogurt packs. There is a full service coffee shop with espresso drinks but the included breakfast has a coffee maker with ready-made coffee that is watered down. Our 2nd morning, one of the two girls working at the shop gave my wife attitude when she asked if we could get an espresso. One of those conversations you wonder how you get yourself into and why you're reaping the wrath of a stranger. Thankfully, the other girl working that day was very nice and came over after to ask what we needed. Our second room was a bunk room, which had a door that didn't close. It had opened and was ajar when we woke up in the morning, despite being locked. When we mentioned it to the staff at the desk as we were checking out they didn't seem phased in terms of it being an apparent issue that hasn't been addressed by the owner.
