Returned 40 years later from our 1st stay, when it was in its original ocean front location, to this 2025 stay. Classic, historic, dedicated beach access, lovely grounds, lush landscaping and gardens, and a great vibe. Rocking chairs and porch swings harken back to the good ‘ol days. Wonderful breakfasts by Chef Georgia, with eclectic culinary creations. Just love this ‘old woodie’ hotel in the original classic OBX architectural style.

This property is very quaint and historic. This is definitely not your modern, run of the mill hotel but it is very cool. You feel like you are walking back in time to the 1930s and 40s. The breakfast was fabulous. Bed was comfortable and room was spacious. Access to the beach was convenient.

Great location loved how I could just walk right to the beach. Loved that they had beach chairs to take with as well. The property was beautiful and loved the free breakfast.

Loved my stay at First Colony Inn! The property is beautiful and it has a great path to the beach which is wonderful. Breakfast is very nice and so is the afternoon wine and snacks selection. This place is highly recommended if you’re planning a trip to The Outer Banks.
