A mixed bag...

We were initially quite disappointed with this hotel, considering the price, star rating, and the very positive reviews. After spending three nights at the hotel, however, we came to appreciate some of its positive aspects. Negatives: pools look nice on photos, but are essentially useless since they are saltwater pools. If you never swam in a saltwater pool, think sea water with several bags of salt added. The experience is quite unpleasant. Our kids, that normally love swimming pools refused to enter the pools after their first swim, despite that they normally love swimming pools have spend practically 6 hours a day in the pool on our other Crete hotel; Not enough sun chairs: at 8am all sun chairs were booked; Very loud music pumping out over the pool area all afternoon, making relaxation impossible; Mediocre food during day times; gym not included in room price; small and old-fashioned rooms; no WiFi included, even in the lobby area. Positives: breakfast and evening food varied and of high (buffet) quality; amazing sunset view (after 6pm, the place calms down and it is again possible to relax); beautifully landscaped hotel grounds; while there are no real beach at the hotel, they have two sheltered bays where you can swim even when there are high waves on the sea, if you take a morning swim here, you will be able to see many fish and other sea creatures (we saw all the species that were listed in the diving company's brochure within snorkeling distance from the shore)

tTRES AGREABLE SEJOUR DANS CET HOTEL

Nous avons passé 8 jours dans cet hotel avec 2 enfants de 8 et 12 ans. C'est un grand complexe avec plusieurs piscines situé en hauteur ce qui nous donne une vue imprenable sur la mer. Les jardins sont magnifiques et très bien entretenus. Le personnel est très agréable, aussi bien les femmes de ménage que les employés des restaurants. La nourriture est bonne, variée, avec plusieurs thèmes durant la semaine. Beaucoup de choix également au petit déjeuner. Mention spéciale pour l'animation avec une équipe très professionnelle ainsi que des spectacles de qualité. Nous avons logé dans un bungalow familial assez spacieux avec une chambre pour les enfants, une salle de bain et une grande chambre pour les parents. Devant le bungalow nous avions une petite terrasse avec table et chaises, très agréable. Petit bémol cependant pour l'eau de la piscine qui est salée. N'oubliez pas les lunettes de plongée pour les enfants. Sinon, rien à dire, je recommande cet hotel situé à 20 km environ de RETHIMNON.

Var på Iberostar Creta Marine i början av maj. Blev glatt överraskad av hotellet. Det fanns allt man kan önska sig. Fina rum, bra läge på hotellet. Hade bungalow med havsutsikt. Underbar service. Bra mat, variation. Trevlig underhållning som passar både ung som gammal. Animations teamet var mycket bra. Hade aktiviteter hela dagarna. Trevligt bemötande. Kan verkligen rekommendera detta hotell. Kommer att åka tillbaka nästa gång jag besöker Kreta

CRETA MARE : un bon choix

Nous sommes une famille de 4 personnes : 2 adultes, 1 adolecente de 16 ans et 1 enfant de 9 ans. C'est la première fois que nous partions dans ce type d'hôtel pour nous reposer à l'instar de d'habitude où nous visitons et marchons beaucoup.Nous sommes restés 15 jours au Creta Mare sur la période fin fuillet - Aout 2010. Sa localisation est bien, centrale, car elle permet de visiter l'Ouest, l'Est, traverser l'île et rejoindre les plages du Sud assez facilement, par contre une voiture est indispensable. L'hôtel est très bien tenu, très fleuri, longe le bord de mer, a deux plages privées (4 euros par transat sur la période où il y a le "sauveteur") et de grandes piscines. L'hôtel est sur un grand site, très aéré et de ce fait même en plein mois d'Aout nous n'avons jamais eu l'impression qu'il y avait beaucoup de monde (ma crainte initiale). Notre bungalot, en RDC, donné sur la piscine du Creta Mare avec une chambre climatisée spacieuse. Les buffets sont de qualité, l'équipe qui gère les animations est sympathique, professionnelle, l'environnement très sécurisé pour les enfants qui peuvent gérer leurs occupations avec des copains sans soucis. Je conseille cet hôtel où chacun peut trouver son rythme de vacances.
