Great place

Great place to stay to visit Monteverde. It a good deal in this touristic area. The room was clean, so the shared bathroom was. Easy self parking on site and the hotel is walkable for the center of Santa Elena.

Room as seen on picture: really clean and simple. Close to the village so you can go on walk eating. As we confirmed in the email, you jave to pay cash when you get there, no credit card (just be aware)

Cute modern and simple rooms that accommodated our large family with clean bunk beds and a nice shower. We loved the shred area where we cooked a couple of meals and met people from other countries. The staff was extra helpful and kind. They reaerved the tours for us and answered all our questions.

Very clean. Do not get confused or nervous by the name hostel. It is a studio with its own private bathroom and private kitchen. Large room and well stocked kitchen utensils. Service of the staff is excellent.

Cattleya was better than we expected! Our group was exploring Monteverde/Santa Elena for 2 days, and we were provided with a very clean, large private room (including our own mini kitchen and full fridge, in addition to the communal kitchen). The reception area is separate (about 3 min drive) from the rooms, but not inconvenient. There are lots of restaurants nearby. We actually got food from a nearby grocery store and cooked in our room. Overall, amazing price for what you get. It was perfect for our short stay and we would be happy to return!

The studios are very cool. There is an electric burner, blender, and other kitchen appliances to make food. The space is a good size for a family with two queen size beds in each studio. The only downside is how windy it gets each night. The wind truly howls and sounds like a storm (and it’s often that way in this region). I recommend earplugs or something of the sort if you are a light sleeper. Also, they arrange for shuttle service to places, which was nice except I found out that the price of the shuttle was twice the amount I was told at the desk. All in all, it’s a great place to stay, and I’d highly recommend it!

We had read the excellent reviews for Jonathan and Hostel Cattleya overall, and I have to add ours to the list. We were a group of 50-somethings, coming from a pretty terrible VRBO in Monteverde our first night- so bad that I took a chance on a “hostel” (we haven’t stayed in a hostel since traveling in Europe during college!). We booked the economy apartment for $45/night, which turned out to be an actual two bedroom house— whhaatt?!?! It was perfect- clean, coffee and condiments laid out for us, dishes and silverware, clean towels in the bathroom, full refrigerator, an actual stove. A little backyard w table and chairs. It was fantastic. Jonathan was lovely, too- super friendly when we checked in, made sure we had his phone number in case we needed anything. Even just staying one night, this “hostel” was one of the highlights of the trip. We can’t recommend it highly enough. Cheers and best of luck for continued success, Jonathan!

Nice Studio Apartment

Nice two bedroom studio apartment about 200 meters from main hostel building. Managers were exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Only slight negative, really more of a surprise, was that they didn't accept payment via credit card.

Perfect place to stay. Highly recommended!

I was welcomed in a very nice manner by the host. I had no trouble checking in and all the questions I had were answered. The host has a great personality and he's open to all questions. He is very friendly and willing to go above and beyond. I actually had a lot of help from Jonathan, the host and owner, in deciding what activities to do in my stay. He is very helpful in scheduling tours, giving advice of the best tours, and discussing prices. The room I stayed in was very clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed. There was free breakfast provided, which was really good and tasty. The hostel has a clean kitchen for people that likes to cook. It has all the utensils and cookware just like a regular kitchen would. Since the hostel is just a couple of minutes from Santa Elena, it's easy to get groceries. I had no issues in my stay. The service was incredible. I would definitely recommend and go back because it was just perfect.

Das Zimmer war nur oberflächlich sauber. An den Fenstern hingen überall Fliegen und kleine Spinnen. Im Haupt Haus war es bestimmt gemütlicher. Wir haben allerdings ein abseitstes Häuschen bekommen, das garnicht gut war. Juckende Bettwäsche, unsauber , ungemütlich eingerichtet und ein unhöflicher Hinweis für ein Trinkgeld. Nie wieder!!!!

Insgesaamt super, CheckIn etwas chaotisch

Das Hostel ist insgesamt super! Der CheckIn war etwas chaotisch, da alles nur in ein Buch eingetragen wird und es da manchmal zu Überbuchungen etc. kommt. Bei uns hat da aber alles geklappt. Das Badezimmer war nur zT sauber, was aber eher an den Leuten lag, die das mitbenutzt haben. Es gab warmes Wasser in der Dusche ein großes Plus! An der Rezeption kann man gleich Aktivitäten buchen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war super! Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt :)
