The check-in was only from 4 to 5 pm... A tight window when you're traveling... And the owner wasn't even there. The kitchen staff, very friendly, showed us around, and then put us in the wrong room! There was confusion there after, but we ended up staying in the wrong room. The rest of the experience was OK.

Weekend in Monteagle Tenn.

Traveled from Virginia to attend inaugural opening of The Caverns, the new Bluegrass Underground. Stayed three nights at Edgeworth Inn. Beautiful inn, gracious host, excellent breakfasts, located in charming area and close to several great hikes to some beautiful waterfalls. Would stay there again. Deb & Dan

This is my favorite place on the planet.

Consistently excellent. Cozy, comfortable, and very well kept. Incredible art, which is a bonus. Fabulous breakfast!

Lovely woodsy stay

The Edgeworth Inn is charming and in a beautiful woodsy setting on 65 acres. Gorgeous hiking trails, peaceful and quiet.

Very nice Bed and Breakfast, not a hotel.

Lovely place, in the middle of a Chautauqua-type cottage area. Excellent breakfasts and staff. But it is a B&B, not a hotel. No 24-hour maid service for example.

Not worth the $$

The only positive I can recall is the location which is in the heart of the Assembly grounds and close to many attractions around Monteagle. The inn itself and rooms are dark, musty, and cluttered with junk/antiques literally thrown around with no sense of taste. The website advertised a gourmet breakfast and what we received was a basic plate of scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast that we could have ordered at Cracker Barrel. Definitely not worth the $170 a night we paid for our room.

This is an adorable inn! My childhood friend and I were so very comfy and cozy in our cute room, and were invited to stay as long as we wanted in the living areas and porches after checkout on Sunday. We could have stayed on the porch all day!

Edgeworth Inn

The room was lovely and comfortable. I enjoyed the abundance of art and books throughout the Inn. Breakfast everyday was delicious, and they kindly accommodated my request for an earlier breakfast on my last day there. I'd gladly stay here again.

We took a chance and won big-time!

The Inn is inside a vacation/retreat neighborhood. We arrived after snow and ice had covered the tiny roads. Beautiful! Built in 1898, rooms are furnished with a variety of styles of furniture, art, and plenty of nicknacks. Breakfast was cooked to order. Bath was lovely. Soft towels and soft robes. Floors were "historically" uneven. though pretty full, the inn was quiet. Guests were friendly.

Interesting history and architecture

It was a dark and stormy night. No, really. We were the only guests. I was surprised that the only TV was in the parlor. The bed room was a little cool. Breakfast was fabulous. I wish the weather had been better, so we could have checked out the surroundings.

mid-week at Monteagle Sunday School Assembly

My spouse and I had a wonderful stay at Edgeworth Inn. Our room was located on the main floor, across from the dining room and off the main hallway gathering area. Easily, a guest might mistakenly use the bathroom assigned to the guests in this room. So my "4" for cleanliness is because the BR was borrowed prior and during our stay. But, understandably, in a relaxed atmosphere such as this community , it is no big deal. Our best time was on the porch enjoying the quiet, watching the passing walkers and dogs, and enjoying the time together. The owner, has an extensive book collection and many paintings to enjoy.

Edgeworth Inn Stay

The inn was lovely and the community was peaceful. Guests should note that there are no keys to the rooms and the inn is always open. The grounds are beautiful and quiet - guests should also know that they are staying at the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly grounds which charges $15.00 per guest per night and $3.00 parking in addition to what you pay at booking time.

The Edgeworth Inn in Monteagle

This is hospitality from another, gentler age. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and nicely appointed - staff is available but not on your doorstep. Although all the signals from office and home are available, this Inn's setting lets you know why it's a good idea, occasionally, to turn off the TV and put your cell phone on silent. We'll be back.
