Unique stay at this hotel One must experience Great rooms great staff great food and beverages Uniquely positioned in the town easy to walk around Make sure you have hotel arrange a tuk tuk tour of the city Weather was wet and cold but did not deter us from having a great time

You will not be disappointed if you book this hotel..just do it!! The experience is amazing, the staff friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant amazing. The room itself was so cool and we even had a little surprise when we opened a door and it was a whole other lounge area.

We had a suite that was one of the rooms that were directly inside of the main part and it was absolutely stunning. I was a little unsure at first of staying in a cave being claustrophobic, but our room had 2 sets of windows and it was perfect The spa is exactly how it looks in the pictures. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful.

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel was spotless, the room was comfortable, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options, and the spa was clean, relaxing, and a perfect place to unwind. The location was also excellent. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

This stunning cave hotel with its spa facilities was a unique experience and we shall both remember this place for a long time! Its location was excellent allowing us to explore the wonders of Matera and we loved relaxing in the spa We found an amazing restaurant called Amoro in the main square which was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel. The food and service were excellent. The staff at the hotel were friendly and very helpful also. I would recommend staying here ! Thank you Matera !

This hotel was definitely a splurge for us but I highly recommend it. Very well located near restaurants, the duomo, and other shopping areas. Staff were fantastic and the free spa access (60 mins) that comes with booking is excellent. Although they don't have parking on site, there is a paid parking lot a 5 min walk away for approx 10 Euros per day. The hotel provided that information and were extremely helpful. Our room featured a cave room and walls and was so well maintained. Highly recommend staying here!

This hotel is spectacular. Such an awesome experience. Everyone was incredibly helpful, the location is great. A shuttle drove us from the car park and picked us up. The room was excellent, we were upgraded to a deluxe suite which was amazing. The only comment I have is that there was no door between the toilet and the bed. Thankfully we had this cool little tunnel to a room in the cave with some chairs where one of us would wait if the other needed to ‘go’. I would absolutely stay again the hotel is part of an amazing matera experience

Generally good, just the following observations: 1, wifi in our room is very weak, close to none. Sure it is a cave but we also stayed in another luxury cave hotel in Matera and their WiFi was superb. 2, for this price even including the SPA facikity, we expect just a bit more or lower price. 3, we booked a suite but the suite we had was slightly different from the one we saw on the Internet, both the hotel's and Expedia's. There was only one chair in our suite, and we were travelling as two, so..... This goes back to point 2, taking everything into account for this price, the hotel has not exceeded our expectations.

The temperature of our room was not proper for sleeping but the staff were very helpful and were able to relocate us. Not ideal and sort of an inconvenience but it worked out so thank you guys!

The spa and underground pool and sauna/steam room is wonderful and you get an allocated hour pre booked. Rooms are stylish and slept well. Shower room tiles were slippery when wet take care, ask for a shower mat which they will drop off.

The staff and food were excellent. Air conditioning does not work well. We had to change rooms but air temperature in the room was always above 23.5 degrees Celsius. Very uncomfortable, specially at night. Don’t book during the summer, specially August. They gave us the run around regarding the AC because they know it doesnt go below 23.5. Otherwise it is a wonderful and beautiful hotel

Simply amazing! The whole staff was effective while very friendly. The hotel is beautiful and the staff helped us make my mom’s 80th bday celebration super special! The spa was equally amazing and the massage was one of the best I’ve had! I’d definitely stay there again!

We found Hotel Aquatio to be a unique and truly special place — a perfect blend of luxury, history, and thoughtful modern design. The architecture and cave interiors are stunning, and every corner feels carefully considered. The service was exceptional throughout our stay. Everyone we met — from reception to the spa team, the restaurant staff, and even the cleaners — was consistently friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful. It made the whole stay feel relaxed and welcoming. The spa and pool were a real highlight. Swimming in the atmospheric cave pool was unforgettable — calming, beautiful, and unlike anything we’ve experienced before. Overall, Aquatio is a luxurious, beautifully designed hotel with outstanding service and a truly memorable atmosphere. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it.
