"Unfortunately I would say our experience wasn’t great. The balcony door was broken and when asked to have our room switched she told us not to worry it’s safe. Being that we were on a girls trip. We didn’t feel safe at all and the balcony was on the first floor. So people can easily just walk right it. That ruined the trip it self. The space it self was clean and huge. "Beautiful property with amazing views. Take the hike up from the valley it’s worth the walk. Food was ok, and you will find better in the valley and this is only a minor point. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend spending a night there."

"This very dated hotel is central so that makes it quite good. The rooms are fine and there are things to do. The food is average and flavourless. The staff seem always unhappy and overall I would say it is fine because of location but quite expensive given how dated and how I felt the service was. They had said I would stay in my room for 2 nights given a tour group I was joining night 2 - yet they yelled at me at the front desk and make me move in a rushed format when I went to confirm. "Das Rauchen auf den eigenem Zimmerbalkonen war nicht erlaubt ohne, dass dies zuvor bekannt war. Das Personal war im Allgemeinen nicht hilfsbereit und man fühlte sich bei Anliegen als Belastung. Die Zimmer sind gut, aber in die Jahre gekommen. Die Balkontür schleift (übrigens bei allen Zimmern). Der Kleiderschrank ist eine Zumutung, wenn man mehr als eine Person ist (Schiebetürendilemma). "The hotel is located near the coast and near a majority of attractions in Funchal. Our stay here was nice and comfortable with no real highlights or lowlights to speak of, and that is a compliment, we admired the cozy painless experience. The outdoor pool was absolutely freezing with the outdoor temperature being 20 degrees, though that was more due to the breeze. The rooftop bar is quite nice and cozy to chill at after a day out in the city !"
