Lovely people here in this traditional hotel in the heart of Machynlleth. Just the warm welcome and comfy stay I needed at the start in my holiday. And the Glamorgan Sausage for breakfast was spectacularly tasty!
We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is an old building and quirky which is a good thing. It was clean and all of the staff were helpful and friendly. Food was excellent in the restaurant and good gluten free options available. Also we were on our motorcycle and the hotel provided secure covered parking while we were there. Would recommend this hotel.
As a Great grandaughter of the owner of The Wynnstay Arms 1920-1925, I thoroughly enjoyed staying in this lovely Hotel. The decor was very old English & with an amazing amount of collectables. The staff were very friendly & helpful.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience

Staff were friendly and efficient.
food was good.
bed was too soft.
Parts of the hotel need a little TLC
The rooms are a bit outdated but clean . The bath was very good. The service is the restaurant was a bit slow but it didn’t matter because the food was excellent
Very central in Machynlleth. Large private car park. The building is quite quirky, parts have been updated but others are in need of attention. Some staff very nice but others rather offhand. Comfy bed.
As always the hotel couldn’t do enough for us.
Some of the guys couldn’t make it but that wasn’t an issue they let us rebook so we didn’t lose money.
The 9 of us that did stay had a fantastic evening in the bar with the locals. Dinner was fantastic.
Couldn’t recommend the place more highly.
The staff are one of the main reasons we keep coming back.
Hotel was lovely old and quirky. Still could do with bit of TLC in places outside court yard could be made nicer. Breakfast was really good. Nite meals are excellent but pricey. +same menu for 4 nites no specials
So we did go out cheaper and a change. .
I stayed for one night in a single room with en-suite, a comfortable chair, a desk, teas and coffees. Everything very clean, very white towels and sheets, mattress a bit old but I had a good night's sleep. It's a large old building. I didn't see a lift, so up the stairs and along several corridors to find the room. Breakfast was excellent and very tasty. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful.

I had a good stay at The Wynnstay. It was quite chaotic when I checked in so I wasn’t given wifi details or told whether breakfast was included (it was and I missed it). The hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of Machynlleth. It’s quite an old building but it’s quite charming. There’s a lovely bar downstairs with great staff. The double bed is actually two singles pushed together which wasn’t great but had a good night’s sleep.

Lovely old building. Lots of different rooms/areas. Good beer. Good food. Our room was a bit tired and could do with a bit of love. New people have just taken over the hotel. Need a bit of time to find their feet. I’m sure they’ll get there.

Great restaurant but I wouldn't recommend rooms
Stay were fab! Very welcoming & friendly. The restaurant food was superb. The rooms however leave alot to be desired. Very much in need of a full refurbishment. Cold shower, toilet doesn’t flush properly, everything very tired looking. Could have done with a real deep clean. Very disappointed overall

The hotel is looking dated and requires some renovation work. The food was fantastic! Really really good. The evening dinner was superb and the breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, the hotel is let down by poor management who was seemingly unaware there was a £30 meal credit on the booking and then proceeded to argue with us about whether we should pay full price for the meals. If you have booked through Expedia check the £30 meal credit is on your booking slip.
The decor is quite tired but very clean and comfy. Breakfast was great and staff very accomodating. However as raised with reception and a manager, had we seen the wynnstay facebook post discussing refusing hosting refugees we would not have booked. Although the owners may be faced with difficult decsions re these issues, we do not feel this should ever form part of the publicity and made us feel at best uncomfortable, at worst unsafe. Had this been addressed as promised I would not have raised in review.

A Mixed Bag
Generally a good experience, but with reservations. A hotel of character, much nicer than bland city tower blocks, but ready for overall refurbishment. Very un-green: no double glazing anywhere I saw. Room cleaning skimpy - glass shelf over sink always left unwiped, tea provisions not topped up adequately, bath not wiped round. Food excellent quality, well prepared. More choice of breakfast buffet items would be welcome. If you are solo and book in advance for dinner, be aware that you might find your table is in the remote and spartan reception/corridor area, not the actual restaurant - staff said they wished the restaurant was larger, which sounded like they routinely over-book. Convenient location for public transport- bus stops round the corner and railway station about ten minutes walk.
Lovely old coaching hotel full of character ,
rooms are clean and a good size with comfortable bed
Staff are friendly and good choice for breakfast .
Would definitely stay again
