Very cold no heating had to ask then ask again
They let us in to room early but it had not been cleaned so Covid is a bad risk as not been disaffected so would have rather left our stuff in the car until later
This was a very good place to stay. My only comment was that the room was very hot, and while I like a warm room, the heater control of the radiator was behind a cupboard and could not not be reached. I also think, as the room was rather small, that the bedside table made the room feel rather cluttered, and is probably not really needed.
Where do I start, came here for a vacation with my 83 year old father for nine days.
To put things into perspective I have travelled extensively for work and lived in hotels for years so I have seen the good and the bad. This hotel is the ugly.
There is literally no staff from Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon-none! Office is permanently closed with a note on the window to call a number if you need anything. The kitchen and full English breakfast in the morning as advertised doesn’t exist because there is no cook (told that was removed from the price of the stay-would hate to see the price with the breakfast). In the room the shower tub base was cracked with a shoddy repair job so a bath mat was installed to cover it up. The shower head was held together by duct tape, yes grey duct tape. Linens were never changed or towels and garbages were never emptied.
For three days there was no heating, luckily this happened near the weekend so the guy who eventually shows up called a maintenance guy to repair it after the second day. My Dad was wearing a coat in the room. To top it off, no heat no hot water so cold showers. No remorse from the guy, no offer to compensate.
The onus is on the guests to ensure the old front door closes properly for hotel security.
In a word-disgrace. Stay away. Far far away…
Not a success. I arrived at check in time, the entrance was shut, nobody answered the bell. I rang a telephone number displayed on a scrappy piece of paper, and was told that. 'she" was out, could. I come back at 4?
I said I wasn't waiting, but would return around 10.00. Could I ring 10 minutes before to warn, said the voice? I duly did this. At 10.00 the door was again shut. I rang the the bell again. Five minutes later a woman wearing slippers emerged behind me, and let me in. I was handed a scrappy piece of paper to provide all my details, including passport number(!), even though I had provided all these before when pre-paying. The reception "office" had a couple of scruffy chairs, and that was it.
I was at least shown upstairs to my roomy the lady in slippers. Which was to be fair clean, both towels and sheets, and the en suite even contained an up to date shower.
Even though the sign outside the hotel promised Bed and. breakfast, and a full bar downstairs (all repeated in the welcoming brochure in the room, plus detailed menus for supper as well as breakfast), it was clear that none of these were on offer- not even a glass for water from my tap.
In the morning I came downstairs at 8.30. There was certainly no breakfast, indeed there was no sign of life anywhere. So I left my key on the shelf outside the "office", opened the front door, and walked out into the rain.
At no stage during I see or hear anybody based in the hotel- whether staff or guests.
This is an excellent small hotel which has a first class interior fit akin to a four star rating. The room I occupied was very small but extremely well fitted out. The owner spent a considerable amount of time looking after my needs with pride and expressed his passion for the comfort and safety of his guests. My room was on the front of the building which faces a very busy road and this was noticeably busy during the night. I am a very light sleeper unfortunately but most people would not notice the traffic. A great hotel very good value and near to ferry and city.
We were let down as soon as we arrived as check in was from 2pm and we got there at 4pm and the room wasn't ready . We were shown to the bar /dining area to wait but was not offered any refreshments while we waited . The room had not been cleaned fully following guests having their breakfast . The room was very clean and comfortable . The shower wasn't great the water pressure was slow . The bathroom was tiny bearing in mind we were in a family room .
What a lovely unexpected find. The rooms and decor were lovely and impeccably clean. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our breakfast. Thank you for a lovely stay highly recommend
Had a 1 night stay with my daughter whilst going to a concert at Anfield.
Lovely clean hotel, check in and out easy, very good value for money, we were in room 14 which has a large comfortable king size bed and tea and coffee facilities.
The full English breakfast was amazing, freshly cooked and delicious.
I would recommend this hotel, Taxi to Anfield about ten minutes and cost £8 so we’ll worth staying here for concerts 😃
