Great location. Was a bit disappointed at first as looked nothing like the pictures, but it was actually really comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful. A couple of the fittings needed attention e.g. bathroom hooks falling off, bathroom door not shutting and the front door handle fell off in my hand :) but this all just added to the charm. Susana was a fabulous host and incredibly helpful. I would stay here again

Lisbon Calling is a beautiful, unique property and we enjoyed our stay in a large 2 bdroom with private bath and an upstairs loft with a second bed. The only issue is that there’s no lobby and nobody is there all the time, so it was difficult to make arrangements when my luggage was delayed. Luckily, the cleaning lady was there until 3PM and allowed the airport staff entry to drop my bag. If the timing had been after 3, I would not have received my bag and would have had to go to the airport. I hope to do carry on from now on!

It's a fun property and with a unique decor and nice big rooms with tall ceilings and lots of space. The kitchen is really usable with pots and pans and everything you need. The staff is good. Not always super helpful with tips and things for Lisbon- they seemed short on time and not always willing to offer up suggestions when asked. Otherwise everthing was great.

I booked for the location and kitchen access and the unique decor, and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room and the unexpected lovely view of the church and open square out my large windows. This is a quirky little find, and if you're ok sharing a bathroom, it's a solid find for a good value in a convenient neighborhood. I also loved how high the ceilings were and how much natural light it received in the day. The church lit up at night was another spectacular view right out the window. Lovely hosts. I'd recommend and potentially return myself!

For the price, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The host was unresponsive while we were actively trying to access the property. It is an auto-check-in process at certain hours, but we had no idea the room had been changed, so the whole arrival was very confusing. Know that the hostel is split between two different sides of the building, with one side noticeably more updated and desirable than the other. Which side you stay on seems to depend entirely on the room you’re assigned. Despite booking “Our Room” on their website, we were placed in Room 1979. If you’re placed in Room 1979, there is a strong moldy/drain odor coming from the private bathroom throughout the stay. Other reviews mention the same issue, so management is likely already aware of it. It also looks rather different than pictured. What really soured the experience was how concerns were handled. We were given contradictory explanations for why our original booked room was unavailable — first construction noise, then that other guests were already staying there. When we asked whether compensation was possible for being placed in a noticeably worse room with obvious issues, the tone became defensive rather than solution-oriented. Multiple times we were told “we are done with this conversation” or cut off mid-question. We eventually received a 16% discount, but the experience still left a bad impression. It felt like we were taken for a ride when we asked what was going on, which isn't a great feeling.

I like this place very much, check in was very warm. I wished I remembered her name, she recommended me a few things and even a local flea market which was amazing. Just note, Expedia says to “collect payment on site” however my credit card was charged before I arrived. She was very kind to check things thoroughly and ensure I don’t get double charged. My room was lovely, I could look out to the streets and also hear the bells from the church or people watch from my window. Location is excellent as it’s so near to the main station Cais Do Sodré and time out market or anything else, so whenever I needed a break in between my day, I can always come back for a little refresh or washroom break. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby, and as it’s quite near the church at night it’s not loud and busy. So I slept well. Not at the hostel’s fault, however the hallways to the common area are slightly dark and as I am afraid of the dark… I always have to kinda mentally prepare myself before going to the washroom at night. Again, it’s a personal thing! Otherwise I absolutely enjoyed my time here. Great stay.

Muy bien ubicado. Acogedor. No hay nadie en la propiedad pero te envian la información detallada para entrar sin dificultad. Solo no me gusto que tuve que pagar en la propiedad. Our family of four (2 adults, 2 teens) enjoyed calling Lisbon Calling home while in Lisbon for 4 nights in March 2026. I didn't realize this was a hostel set up with shared common spaces until I walked in. Was a bit nervous of how this would work for my family. We stayed in the spacious Blue Room. We had a very nice and spacious bathroom (2 shower stalls, 2 toilets, 1 shower) that was located in the shared area with a key we could use to lock up. There is a fridge and pantry with shelves allocated to each room. The kitchen and the common areas are very quirky with lots of personality. My kids loved sharing the platform bed and it provided us some semi-privacy after weeks of traveling together. The Blue Room has a big window that faces the road - it's fun to look down at the people in the street and plaza. I was concerned with the street noise but closing the window and huge wooden shutters was very effective at sealing out the noise. Con was that it became a tad too warm at night. I would imagine this could be a big challenge in the summer as there is no AC but nights in March were cool enough to make this manageable. It would be great to have access to the washing machine but it was explained that there is no space for a dryer and the clothesline is only accessible via a guest room so can't be used by guests. Loved the staff! The location can't be beat! So many restaurants and cafes, plus you're close to Chiado, Pink Street, Praca do Commercio etc. We walked everywhere!

It's in a great location not far from Cais do Sodre station, by Pink Street and the Timeout Market, within walking distance of most of the touristy stuff in Lisbon. The place itself, it's in an old building but it is well maintained and well kept.

The private room was charming and comfortable, and the shared space was artistically decorated. One caveat - while there is an elevator (Lisbon Calling is on the third floor), it's a half flight of steps up to it and then either a half flight up or down to the door (depending on which floor you get off on).
