"Absolutely worst hotel experience I have ever had. I was put in room #1 which is right next to the door to the reception as well as the stairwell. The room has _zero_ sound insulation so every time someone exited or entered the reception area, the door would slam shut. The room vibrated with every slam. Additionally, you heard every stomp of feet on the staircase. I checked out at 3:15am because it was a waste of time to stay any longer."

"This hotel has obviously been newly refurbished throughout and so is in excellent order. The rooms a nicely appointed with an excellent large shower and bed. At the time of my visit we were in the latest heatwave and although there wasn’t air conditioning the room had a cool air fan which was a life saver. Breakfast was varied and the hotel catered easily for vegetarian and gluten free diets. Staff were really helpful and jolly. A pleasure to stay here"

"The staff were very helpful from start to finish and this helped to mitigate the minor inconvenience caused by the renovation work in the hotel. The meals were quite good, with a decent choice at reasonable prices. The main features, which I was able to make use of, were the in-house gym and pool. Both were large enough to cater for the local demand."

"Lovely venue, and restaurant/buffet areas. Dinner was lovely and staff attentive in The Brasserie although the ploughman’s was more like a ham and egg salad. It wasn’t a ‘ploughman’s’ as we know it. But the dessert made up for it. The buffet breakfast was fabulous! Excellent food and staff. The Stables Pub was also excellent, food fabulous and lovely staff. The TV in my room didn’t work. So after I’d unpacked I had to re- pack and was given a different room. Might be an idea to check everything is working before allocating a room. The cosy double rooms are very basic. Just a hanging space, a bed, bedside table and dressing table. I was rather disappointed that it was so basic. But the thing I found most unusual was the lack of hospitality tray items. I had one biscuit, one coffee two tea bags and some milk for a 2 night stay. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a hotel with so little on the tray. And for a 4 star hotel I would have expected more. All in all an enjoyable stay and I would stay there again. Maybe in an upgraded room."

"Booked because offered A/C. Appeared locked to their max allowed. Thermo showed my attempt for 18c but temp never changed, lowered: 20? 22? Customer had no control. Heavy duvet, noting visit during extreme heat wave. No top sheet, finally enptied duvet cover of duvet, used cover as sheet covering. Travelers to UK, Europe need be aware hotels generally set A/C 'max'/min. temp. Customer cannot lower, adjust. Lobby noticeably comfortably cool. Mattress very comfortable. TV in odd viewing area if watch from bed. Nice older property with updated fixtures. Atmosphere pleasant."
