"We stayed two nights. The room was so small it was difficult to move around the bed. We asked the housekeeper to clean our toilet on the second day as it was disgustingly dirty. She neither cleaned this nor made our bed. We do not look for 4 star luxury when staying in motorway hotels such as this but cost effective should not mean dirty."

"We had a very good 2 night stay at Le Grand Hôtel de l'Espérance in Lisieux. The room was basic but very clean and practical. They still provided a kettle and tea and coffee. A mini fridge would have been nice though. The bathroom had shower only but it had a good amount of storage space. We had one dinner in their restaurant which was good and good value for money. The service was good and efficient, even though the restaurant was full and only one person serving. The breakfast was excellent. They had 2 Camembert style cheeses, Emmental, spicy sausages as the hot option, hard boiled eggs, good quality cold cooked ham, good grilled ham, yoghurt, croissants, 2 types of homemade cake, fruit salad, and one of the best apple pies we have ever eaten. The selection was constantly replenished. The people at the reception very friendly and professional. If we were to visit Lisieux again, we would stay there again."

"Good location 10 to walk into town however there is no pathway to walk on unless you cross a dual carriageway Parking was easy plenty of spaces. Breakfast was adequate but nothing special, really needed to be topped up more frequently. Aircon in my room didn’t work but didn’t cause an issue. Shower gel container in the bathroom was empty when I arrived & was not filled up at all during my stay, I had my own so didn’t cause me a problem "
