It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities

Comfortable room, mouldy bathroom, loud music

The bedroom was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. The bathroom was extremely damp and mouldy. Overall abit of a tired hotel. Staff are nice but couldn’t help me much with my issues or questions. There is a nice pool but a large party playing loud music and drinking had been allowed to sit by the pool so it felt uncomfortable to use the pool when I arrived. I paid more for a “Mountain View” room but I was told that didn’t really exist so I wouldn’t advise booking that and paying more for it.
