My go-to place in Kanazawa. The staff all speak English and are incredibly friendly and sweet! Love the Japanese style room and in-house onsen.
This inn is gorgeous; when I went to check-in the first day I was in awe taking in the place, and each day I spent the morning walking around and enjoying the peace and quiet.
A bit further from the city center but easy to get to by bus/taxi in 10-15 minutes; however, the neighborhood this place in was so charming. My brother and I spent a couple days walking around, enjoying the nearby shops, and food recommendations.
After booking a 3 day stay here, I only wish I booked a longer one, will be back for sure!
Our stay at Ryokan Karasawa was lovely! The space was clean and peaceful, and the hosts were incredibly helpful and made us feel right at home. The guide to the local buses and food was invaluable. The building does show its age a bit, but at such a great price and location it's impossible to complain. The futons were REALLY comfy here, too. I'd definitely stay again!
The woman who runs this inn is an amazing person. She was kind, recommended great local restaurants, and even drove us to Kanazawa station free of charge at the end of our stay. The rooms are impressive, japanese-style, and have access to an onsen. Highly recommend a stay here.
Staying here was amazing - a very good ryokan for the cost, it wasn't bougie but it was still amazing.
The room is a good size, the futons and comfy and the view with the garden is excellent.
Also, the staff were lovely, she spoke amazing English and was very friendly and helpful. She even had a map printed out showing what is in the nearby town (i.e. where to eat. laundromat and public transport). This was extremely helpful and showed that the staff care about our needs, and also walked us to our room.
The public bath was amazing as well.

The purpose for our visit was to relax quietly after a busy 6 days in Tokyo and Kyoto and experience a traditional Japanese ryokan accommodation and that’s exactly what we got. Our room could not have been more spacious (we did have the largest room) with an indoor balcony with two chairs that looked over the small garden, a large sleeping space and separate private bathroom and porch area. We were kindly picked up and dropped off to the station and was made very welcome by the host. We enjoyed the clean onsen and the hot dip! After a chat with the host the building is 40years old where I imagine the surrounding buildings and main roads were built after it. This therefore means it is now surrounded by the background noise from the road and slightly overlooked from the two storey homes around it. At night we pulled our screens across which reduced this noise and we slept comfortably and warm in our floor beds. The communal areas do seem a little tired and in need of some tlc and sorting out but for us, for one night,
it was great to quietly recharge our batteries.
I really enjoyed my stay here. I would definitely recommend to anybody looking to stay in a traditional ryokan during their stay in Kanazawa.

Unfortunately this Ryokan is a 20 minute bus ride from the city centre located by a large overhead road.
The staff were nice and the room was comfortable but the building looked a bit tired.
Very Smokey throughout the building. Ohnsen was great. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Beds were perfect and soft. If it didn’t smell like smoke throughout the ping pong and tables and games would be a lot more enjoyable.
We loved staying at this Ryokan!
It had a nice, peaceful atmosphere to it, and offered everything we needed. The room was spacious and the staff was friendly.
Every evening ended with a warm bath in the onsen, which we really enjoyed.
Upon arrival, we got a map of the area and som restaurant recommendations, which were very good as well.
I strongly recommend this Ryokan for a relaxing and authentic experience while visiting Kanazawa.
The place didn't feel special at all. Mostly empty, with utensils here and there, next to a motorway and with no sense of atmosphere.
This was my first ryokan experience and honestly, very disappointed with the experience. Also very cold. Others looks much nicer and warmer from the entrance.
