"The room was clean, the staff was awesome, and I don't business so, IDK on that one. I don't know of any shops that were close-by, we had to ride a bus for a bit or drive the rental for a little bit to find everything. It's close to the airport so no rushing the day of flying out. It was close to the main highway. That helped out tremendously when we left the south for Portree. The bus stop is across the street which will get you downtown, especially close to the castle in Edinburgh. The uber to get downtown is like 40 USD. SO its wise to figure out the public transport. They had parking for our rental, which was way nice. The only issues I had were sitting sideways on the jon because the toilet paper holder was jutting out and some horrible channels (44 of em) on the TELE, it was a pain to connect our iPhone so we never did. Also, I am lazy, so that's not on them. No in-house or self service laundry so probably a great hotel for business 1-2 days as well. Overall top marks and the price was competitive. It all felt pretty new. I would stay here again."

"Beautiful gardens surround what clearly was a stunning manor house in its day. Met at reception by a cheerful helpful lass who soon had us booked in. Room was very dated and tired and desperately needed a full refresh. A questionable mark on the bed valance caused concern. The bath plug spun wildly and wouldn't seal meaning a bath was out the question. Saying that there was no shortage of hot water for a shower. We slept well enough and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was nothing short of a comedy sketch, the only people missing were Manuel and Polly. Cooked breakfast eventually arrived and was edible, other than the fried egg which was like a frisbee. Enjoyed our swim the following morning. Pool was clean and warm but I couldn’t find an unoccupied locker that would actually lock. These things generally come down to value for money versus expectations. We have stayed at some outstanding hotels all over the UK but they cost a small fortune. We paid brass buttons for our one night stay and as an overall experience it was enjoyable and actually quite funny at times. Staff were friendly and chatty which in our book goes a long way in making up for some of Faulty Towers moments. If you can get a storming good deal and you are of a relaxed and easy going disposition like us there's no reason not to book. If you are looking for a flawless experience and paying full price I'd look elsewhere. "

"Staff were welcoming and friendly. I have stayed in this hotel on a previous occasion so I am aware it is a bit out of the centre of Edinburgh but the tram stop is a 5 minute walk and is 15 minutes tram ride into Edinburgh. I did find the hotel bedding and pillows to be quite low quality, but it is a more budget hotel. Apparently there was a lot of young people staying from Cheerleader competition and there was a lot of them running around. I had to call reception at midnight to complain about the noise. Very disappointed that Novotel no longer provides free parking for guests but now charges £15 per night. It is cheaper to book directly through the parking company "Your Parking Space"."
