The person in charge was not so friendly. The first day when we went to breakfast, there was nobody there, that was at nine o'clock, but the guy told me breakfast starts at 8 o'clock (not in a friendly way) I told him, but it's Nine o'clock, just at that moment he realized it was late. We waited more than one hour. Another thing is that they don't accept payment with Dollars, the guy told me: Change your dollar and come back. Another thing is there is no elevator, and it is not so nice to carry the baggage to the third floor. The room and cleaning was ok. The place is okay because it is near many important tourist attractions.

Rooms not as described on Hotels.com

Room was not as advertised. We paid for a Family Room, described on Hotels.com as on the top floor with 2 King beds and a Single bed. We arrived and were put in a street-level Triple Room (smaller, with 3 single beds). When we queried it, we were told to discuss with the manager the next morning. We spoke to the manager at breakfast, and he told us that there are no rooms with 2 King beds and 1 Single bed in the hotel, but eventually agreed to move us to another room on the top floor (away from the street-level noise) with 3 Single beds, which was slightly larger. No rebate offered. Rooms were generally clean, except for the tops of wardrobes, which were filthy. Don't put your towel up there to dry like I did!

La struttura si trova in una posizione invidiabile, a 5 minuti a piedi da tutte le principali attrazioni di Sultanahmet. Potrete andare alla Moschea Blu, Santa Sofia, Topkapi, Basilica Cisterna in massimo 5 minuti. Anche Grand Bazaar e ponte sul Bosforo sono vicinissimi. Oltre alla posizione ci tengo a mettere in risalto lo staff del Hotel: si tratta di una gestione familiare, una bellissima famiglia gentile e disponibile. Ci hanno dato consigli preziosissimi per evitare fregature e vivere la vera Istanbul. Un grazie e un abbraccio a Tekin, il General Manager. Persona affidabile e gentilissima vi aiuta per qualsiasi necessita. In questo Hotel sanno cosa significhi ospitalita. Pulizia ottima. Camere comfortevoli. Se tormiamo a Istanbul torneremo sicuramente al Cesme Hotel e se conosco qualcuno che deve andare senza dubbio gli consiglio di scegliere questa struttura. Super koselig hotel i hjerte av Sultanahmet. Hyggelige og hjelpsomme drivere av hotellet. Vi følte oss veldig velkommen og godt tatt vare på . God Tyrkisk frokost og fint rom og bad . Property needs renovation( wallpaper with dirty marks everywhere) , heating too low and no way to control it,heating does not work in washroom ( snow/freezing outside), washroom door lock does not work, no garbage basket in room, tea pot handle burns hand, property on Hill hard to walk if you are with children although location close to mosques, reception had a teenager kid with minimal language skills , could not report problems to him. Very bad experience.

My brother and I reserved 2 rooms June 12 - June 27th. Due to personal circumstances we had to leave on the 22nd . We notified the owner/manager on the 18th (4 days prior) that we were leaving earlier and when we asked about the policy of early check out he said “ you will only for the nights you stay”. He even booked our Airport Transfer Taxi- after Contacting Expedia for refund the Hotel has denied our refund for the 5 nights for both rooms - saying that they were not notified that we we were leaving earlier . Dishonest to say the least! What was a decent experience turned to a disappointing end. I am definitely not going back to Sultanahmet Cesme Hotel and will make sure my friends ,family and beyond are aware of this. It’s not so much about the money they’re taking from usanymore ,it’s the fact that they’re lying about it.

Could have been better

Booked the hotel based on excellent previous reviews. We were given a much smaller room to stay in than the one we booked. Then the next day we were given the correct room. Honestly the stay was not so good, the hotel needs some renovation and they are doing some maintenance, and it is in a steep hill. The cleaning is not good. The breakfast is good though.
