1. Ban Loong Hotel located at heritage area, I can walk around and even walked to Masjid Panglima Kinta to join "Buka Puasa". 2. Very good idea to transformed an old shop to hotel.

Great value

For the price, this was amazing value. Old restores building with character with very clean and well maintained facilities. Close to main sights of Ipoh and restaurants.

It's a Heritage hotel. Absolutely loved staying here. Definitely will return and stay here again. During the day, it's bustling with life and at night, it is quiet. Mostly coffee shops and toy shops are located nearby. The street behind are mostly Indian garment shops. 5-10 minutes walk towards Old Town Heritage lanes. Good for solo female travelers as it's relatively safe to walk around. My friends and I stayed in the Deluxe Double Room with attached bathroom. The room is small but for us, Asians, it's adequate. One of my girlfriends last minute joined us. They obliged us by adding a small mattress. I like how it was tastefully decorated. They have a common area with pantry (Fridge, tables, etc) on the ground level. I noticed that they sell toothpaste etc for guests who forgot to bring their own. For those who drive, there is 3 special parking spots in front of the hotel. I was told that they also have another parking area for guests. Just need to ask at the desk.

The Hotel is within walking distance to the 二奶巷district. However, I highly do not recommend to walk around in the night especially in this area as a single solo traveller female. As the building is backing against the Council Block

Room was very small and only had a light well window. The hotel was very clean and well looked after and staff very friendly and efficient. When booking look carefully at ameneties as some rooms have shared bathroom facilities.

Weekend getaway

I had a very comfortable stay at Ban Loong Hotel, loved the interior of the room. Sharing toilet was also clean and heater provided for shower! Hairdryer and extra pillow are available upon request. There is a water filter and fridge downstairs for guests so that is definitely a plus for me!

The hotel is in an excellent location and very close to the places of interest. However, the old town literally shuts down by 5 so it's a ghost town in the evenings. You will need to venture out to the new town for any sign of life! The hotel is nicely decorated and the staff are friendly but because it's a heritage hotel noise can travel, I could clearly hear the people next door talking and opening and closing the bathroom door. I stayed in a ground floor room and I had the pleasure of listening to people upstairs using the shower and flushing the toilet, it sounded like I was inside their room! The bathroom had a foul drain smell. I also had a problem with mosquitoes in the room, I had one bite on the second night and six on the second night. The floor needs a good scrub, I wore slippers and they were filthy after 2 nights. It's a cute hotel and enjoyed my stay but the rooms on the upper floors are probably better.
