Clean, 2 bedroom accommodation, stocked kitchenette, no manager on premises. cleaning staff was there daily, bathroom sink leaked, causing drainage odor. Good value for $. Location originally seems no so good, but after driving around is close/ convenient to many stores.
Comfortable and suited our needs of staying in a location where we could get organized for a 4 day hiking trek outside of the downtown. Two grocery stores within walking distance. Both the apartment and shared-washroom were clean.
The hotel sent check in code and room number on the arrival date. Checked in with code is very easy. After a call to the support desk, Staff enabled us to use the laundry facilities is a plus.
My friends and I stayed for 7 days at ASKA Hraun. Our room is clean and it has all the things we needed like mugs, plates, dish soap, forks, spoons and knives. It’s equipped with a microwave, a mini fridge and an espresso machine. The staff are very helpful, they work hard to clean the rooms and are friendly. The property is close to grocery stores, it makes it very convenient.
Yes, my room was clean, and having plates, silverware, a microwave, and a minifridge was VERY helpful. Foods prices are higher there than in ANY of the 54 countries I have visited!! 2 grocery stores within walking distance, a BONUS a block away(and cheapest), and a Kronan 2 blocks away, but about 15-20% more for same items. If you have a car, the location is very handy, and near their type of divided highways. But heater not working yet, but not really needed. The 1 window only opens a slight amount, but with windy and rainy Iceland weather that is a plus!
Stayed here our final night after doing the ring road before an early flight. We were initially skeptical as the surroundings are pretty industrial and not the picturesque Iceland we were used to, but once we were inside it was clean and spacious and perfect place for our family to reorganize and get some sleep before our flights. Even had laundry (but bring your own detergent). It’s contactless check in and out which worked well for our schedule, though it was a tad rocky because we didn’t get the expected email with the info. Someone was available 24/7 by phone so it ended up being fairly easy anyway. Parking was tight but the staff helped with that as well.
I enjoyed my stay so much that I booked another stay after my flight was cancelled. The self-check-in was a breeze, and messages I sent to the staff were promptly answered. The room was immaculate, quiet, very comfortable, and tastefully decorated. The shared bathroom was also immaculate. The free access to laundry facilities was an added bonus.
The close proximity to two grocery stores, Bónus and Krónan Flatahrauni, made the well-equipped kitchenette invaluable. The complimentary espresso provided by ASKA was the perfect start to my mornings, especially when paired with a fresh pastry from nearby Bakarameistarinn. And if you want to shake off that Iceland chill, check out Noodle Station for ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL noodle soup. It’s just a 6-minute walk away.
One small suggestion: a mirror in the rooms without private bathrooms would be a wonderful addition. I was very conscious of sharing the two bathrooms and didn’t want to occupy one for too long just to do my hair or makeup, so I simply skipped those things during my stay. A room mirror would be a small addition that would make getting ready much easier while also allowing guests to be considerate of others sharing the bathrooms.
The location wasn’t ideal, and the outside of the property was not clean at all. There was a lot of junk and clutter at the entrance, which gave a poor first impression. The room also did not have air conditioning, which made it uncomfortable, and the shower water had a strange fish-like odor that was very unpleasant.
On the positive side, the housekeeping staff was very helpful, friendly, and attentive to our needs, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall condition of the property and the issues with the room outweighed the positive service.
Very nice hotel stay with spacious room and bathroom. Our room was clean and equipped with needed amenities. I was very pleased with our stay. My favorite was their breakfast. Such a nice way to start the day and explore Iceland!
The stay was great. Very simple if you’re looking for a nights stay - comparable to a standard hotel. The blackout curtains were great for our August stay. Note: The airflow is minimal, only one very small window with a small opening.
