Very clean, comfortable, affordable place to sleep. Free wifi, hot shower. Bonus: there was a full size fridge in the room. Exactly what we needed in the middle of a long road trip

Disliked: Cleanliness
Stay for only 1 night, over all it was okay. Giving 4 out of 10. Most alarming was parking wasn't safe, because its not monitored by motel authority. You have to park on your own risk
was an old building but the rooms were ok the district was run down

About what you expect hotel
Staying at this hotel was exactly what I expected. The cheapest hotel within a hundred miles. It was normal for what I paid. The neighbours were noisey till 11:00 pm but the yelling stopped about then. It was a non smoking hotel with the smell of smoke all of the way through the hall. As a smoker it was inconvenient while I was going outside to have a smoke.
not bad for oilfield workers, carpets were clean. I have stayed in much more expensive hotels that were not as clean as this one.

Family of 6
We booking in this hotel because it would accommodate our family of 6 It was nice to have 3 beds so no one was in the floor. Though I thought I book a room with 3 queen beds it turned out to be 3 doubles
OK for a 1 night stay & for what we paid. The microwave was helpful to us to heat up some leftovers & not have to go out late (there is also a full-size fridge which is hardly necessary).
Room cleanliness seemed OK (better than the hallways etc), but things like dark carpet & dark towels are not what we like, also the tub did not drain quickly, so standing water while showering :-(
Worst was the bed--it was squeaking & squawking very loudly with the least little movement (even just sitting on the edge), so poor night's sleep.
Behind reception area a sofa with blanket could be seen where the male on duty could catch some rest, but that did not look very professional.
Cannot give more than 2 out of 5 rating.
When you're used to normal "Best Western" type standards for a hotel, the Black Gold Inn is clearly below those standards. First, it smells bad; in the lobby, in the hallways, and in the room. Secondly, the non-friendly attendant tried to argue that the price indicated for my 2 night booking was for 1 night and wanted to charge me that price for each night, which was clearly wrong and made no sense. It took a lot on insisting for him to finally look closely into it until he said "Oh yeah, you're right". Don't expect any perks like coffee, a pool or hot tub, key cards, a box of kleenex or any such conveniences either. I also didn't really expect to have to wake up the attendant from their sleeping on the couch in the back of the office when checking out in the morning.
Found the smoke detector in a drawer which explains the hole in the ceiling and the wires hanging down.
It was hot while there but there was no security if you left the window open.
It was once a great hotel as the rooms are large; the mirrors are excellent as is the lighting over the mirror in the bathroom.
The most challenging thing was when you turned the light on in the bathroom, the fan came on. The trouble is no maintenance has taken place with the fan and it was very loud indeed. Should you have to go to the bathroom during the night, you would wake up your partner and probably others a few rooms down.
We wonder if this place is on it's last legs.
There's no coffee machine in the room, so I picked up the phone to call the front desk, but the numbers on the phone was stuck, so I went to the front desk to asked for one, the staff said he will deliver one right away. I waited in the room for over one hour, so I phoned the front desk with my cell, he said " O , I forgot, will deliver right now." 45minu later, I finally got the coffee machine. I went out to meet friends, and went back to my hotel room just before midnight, I went in for my shower, turned the water on only got hot water, the cold water tap was not working, who can shower with straight HOT WATER. It's too late to do anything. In the morning, I checked out, I told the staff about the shower, all I got was " O " no sorry or anything. Thanks God, I only booked for one night.
