Perfect stop over in Durham

A great place to stay when visiting Durham. Great view of the cathedral from the room. Room was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.

Little gem in the heart of Durham

What a gem of a place, ideal location, gorgeous views, super comfortable room and really friendly staff. One of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. It’s so nice to stay somewhere with so much character, if you’re going to Durham, stay here.

Such a lovely boutique hotel only 5 mins walk to the riverside. All staff were so friendly, the furnishings are so beautiful and the food is outstanding!

Absolutely loved our stay at 40 Winks, the room was so beautiful with a gorgeous view of the Cathedral. It felt romantic, relaxing and special. Only a 5-10 minute walk to get to the main attractions and lots of food options. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone staying in Durham.

Great location, so close to town centre, fantastic host, George couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely room overlooking the quiet cobblestone one way street in view of the cathedral. Beautiful!

What a Beautiful place to stay! The room we stayed in was gorgeous and it’s easily the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The view was amazing. Staff were friendly and welcoming. All of the facilities were wonderful and breakfast was so nice! I can’t wait to come back!

This was our second stay at 40 winks and it was even better! Warn welcome, beautiful decor, delicious breakfast. Host went out of his way to make our visit run smoothly as we were here for a graduation ceremony. We will be back. Didn’t have time to use the new bar so we must return!!

Beautiful hotel, decor was fantastic, everything spotless and of the highest standard. Breakfast was amazing - restaurant standard. Can’t recommend this place highly enough, 5 mins walk down the hill to the town

Lovely place, kind and welcoming host. Clean and well kept, and peefect for what we needed, which was to be within close walking distance of the cit centre and colleges. Grateful for the loan of an umbrella as it rained heavily while we were there!
