About this property
Open Air Cinema & Hot Tub | 1970s Log Cabin
Summary:
Featured in 5280 Magazine's "11 Coolest Colorado Airbnbs." The Bird House is a restored 1970s genuine log cabin — 35 minutes from Denver, a world away from everything else.
Cozy up with cocoa and s'mores at the open-air cinema on the porch surrounded by Colorado forest. It plays in daylight, through rain, even snow. The trees are your backdrop, your favorite film is on the screen, and the hot tub is waiting.
Nightly rate includes Airbnb's service fee + cleaning fee combined.
The Space:
This is a real cabin — not a new build styled to feel rustic. Exposed log walls, vaulted pine ceilings, a hanging hammock swaying beside the gas fireplace stove. The kind of place where you sit down and realize twenty minutes later you haven't looked at your phone.
Two bedrooms carry original log walls. The master has a hand-crafted wood slice feature wall — and a huge window that frames the forest like a painting. You wake up to pines and bird song. No alarm needed.
✔ Soft + firm pillow options for personalized comfort

HIGHLIGHTS & EXPERIENCE
COVERED CINEMA PORCH — ALL WEATHER, ALL DAY
Projector mounted overhead, pull-down screen, sectional with throw pillows, fire table center stage. Covered roof means sun, clouds, or Colorado afternoon rain — it doesn't matter. Three open sides mean the forest is always present. Guests have watched movies here at 10am and 1am. Both are perfect.
THE A-FRAME HOT TUB
Iconic A-frame deck and sunken hot tub, with long views into the pines. This is what guests mention most. Morning coffee in the water. Wine at sunset. Stars appearing slowly overhead and you unwind.
THE HAMMOCK & FIREPLACE
A proper cabin hammock, hung from pine rafters, beside a glowing gas fireplace stove. This is where slow mornings happen. Where someone always ends up with a book. Where the trip actually starts to feel like a trip.
DESIGNED FOR
People who want the real thing. A fire going, nowhere to be, a movie playing in the open mountain air. The Bird House doesn't try to be a resort. It's a genuine Colorado cabin that happens to have one of the most unexpected outdoor cinema experiences in the mountains.

This is a very well kept property that is made up very nicely. The set-up inside and outside the property was just what we were looking for while our short stay outside Denver. The hot tub is a great and unique amenity but unfortunately, we ran out of time. The unit was very clean and all communications with the owner went well.
My family and I had the most peaceful vacation while staying in this beautiful cabin. The inside of the cabin is spacious yet cozy and the outside was a winter wonderland. I would definitely recommend the AWD to get to and from the cabin. Monica was great at communicating back to me when I had a question about the fireplace and did not bother us at all while we stayed. Overall a beautiful, peaceful, and wonderful vacation. We would definitely book again.
We worked way more than play. I wish in the short time we had there we spent more time playing. Make sure to save the door code before you get up there as there is no cell service. I didn’t realize the second layer of deck pictures isn’t part of the rental space. Property manager was very nice and communicative. Lots of rules to follow and the jacuzzi one made me paranoid the whole time about getting charged extra bc it bubbled before anyone was even in it. We ran out of propane after about 10 minutes of fire but it was really nice while it lasted. Btw the water is brown and tastes funny so bring your own.
Great space, beautiful scenery, peaceful environment. The only downfall is the distance to get dinner, 15 miles, which takes about 30 minutes. Other than that, we were very impressed with our experience. Thank you!
Overall, the property and house were great. They did a beautiful job with the remodel and the reclining couches in the living room looking out into the mountains were a nice touch. The hot tub was fantastic… and again with the views! There were neighbors closer than we anticipated but it’s a very quiet neighborhood with beautiful views! The location was perfect since we were looking for somewhere in the mountains but close-ish to Denver (DoorDash accessible lol). We did some nearby hikes and explored Evergreen and Idaho Springs - highly recommend all of the above! There were a few small inconveniences - no reply from the owners re: possible early check in, kitchen lacking a few needed items, lots of posted rules, and a lengthier checkout to-do list than we are accustomed to seeing at other short term rentals. We are very respectful of other people’s properties and understand setting boundaries but a few of the asks were a little over the top. All in all, great, quiet stay.
Great location—remote but still close enough to enjoy all that Denver offers . The hot tub was amazing! My whole family enjoyed the 4 deer that greeted us everyday. Monica was quick to respond and made sure to check in on us. Very nice! Highly recommend!
We were in Conifer for our nephew's wedding. Enjoyed our stay at the log cabin very much but unfortunately weren't able to use the jacuzzi because we ran out of time! Our only complaint (and it's not really a bad complaint!) is that the king bed in the master room wasn't very comfortable, the frame was squeaky and the sheets didn't fit too well (kept bunching up under us). Would prefer a more solid bed. Not great for anyone with back issues. Otherwise, everything else was great. One last recommendation: definitely recommend TWO blow dryers (one in each bathroom). Held us up a little when getting ready. Plus if the only one you had didn't work, then we'd be really stuck!
When I first saw this cabin I knew that it was the right place to celebrate my birthday with my friends. And actually, it exceeded my expectation. I have a great time with my friends. The owners thought about every single thing to make you feel comfortable. I'll be back for sure.
This was a well kept property and exceeded all me and my families expectations. We went to this location specifically to disconnect and enjoy being outside a major city. It is a bit remote and I think the hosts do a good job of communicating that in their listing. No problems for us getting to the cabin. It was stocked well with coffee and other common things you might need and a store is not too far away. The wildlife is present and we saw deer, a turkey, and a moose very nearby. The hot tub works great and helped us after a long day of hikes. My recommendation is if you are truly looking to get in quiet time, appreciate all the nature that Colorado has to offer, and want a cabin that is freshly clean and well stocked then this is your place. I appreciate the prompt responses from Monica and Esteban and thanks for having us out.

Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
This property should have listed that they have a very steep driveway and if you don't have snow chains or an AWD vehicle you will get stuck trying to leave. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by the door not opening after several attempts. The renters must have known this because they left the side door open, but failed to mention this. I wanted to come here for stress relief, relaxation. But you will be getting messages and emails throughout your stay. Adding to the list of rules they have set for you. And these requests aren't suggestions they are threats because they will charge you $200 for each "rule" you don't follow. They will ask that you text when leaving to have the cleaning person come. Except you are required to clean all dishes, do the laundry which wasn't mentioned prior to booking. They in fact have a binder full of rules you need to follow. For example, you will be charged if you stain their carpets. You will be charged if you dirty their Jacuzzi water. You will get a message saying to not get in the Jacuzzi with sunscreen, then another one saying to rinse your swimsuit before entering. Implying you're a dirty person. Most of the property has removed their curtains. As well as cameras surrounding the property making me feel like I'm being watched and an overall uncomfortable, unwelcomed feeling. As I was trying to drive up the property and failed several attempts, I get a message almost immediately saying sign forget to leave by 10am. This place is overpriced
