About this property
Historic Family Style Homestead Cabin
Quaint cabin on private 230 acre ranch. Snowmobiler and Cross/back country skier can directly access Forest Service Land from our ranch. Built by original Norwegian homesteader. Sleeps 6 comfortably with 2 queens and trundle twins. Recently renovated bathroom and new gas stove update the look of this first non-log cabin built in the upper swan valley. Cabin layout may require some concessions to frontier lifestyle as first residents built cabin with pragmatism in mind. See pictures for more clarity. Part of 3 cabin set on Meadowland Ranch: The Lazy Bean, The Homestead Cabin and The Hunters Cabin all listed in the VRBO

Andy, the host, is one of the coolest guys I have met. He was so welcoming, accommodating, and super down to earth. The cabin that we got (The Lazy Bean) is the most rustic, feel at "Grandmas House" atmosphere. I have not felt more comfortable in a weekend get-a-way cabin. We will definitely be coming back!
Andy is an excellent host. The cabin was clean and warm when we arrived late in the night. The cabin is fun and the surrounding area rich in outdoor activities. A really great stay!
Andy was a pleasure to deal with. The location was beautiful and cabin itself quaint, cozy and comfortable on a very well-cared-for land. A truly memorable experience - thank you Andy!

Very quaint cabin very close to groceries and lakes. Host was very accomodation and extremely nice and friendly. Cabin is rustic but had everything we meeded.
We had the most peaceful and relaxing stay at the homestead cabin. The views were unreal and the cabin was so cozy. Exactly what we were looking for! Andy was a great host!
Great little cabin with some history in the Swan Valley. The cabin was clean, and our host, Andy, was fantastic and fun to chat with. The view off the front
porch is very scenic, and we often saw wildlife (deer, wild turkeys, sandhill cranes) in the area. We will definitely return in the future.
Everything was more than great. The view, the area, that’s why I keep coming back. The host Andy makes you feel welcome and treats you like family. I’m always sad to leave.
Cute cabin in a great location. It is very cozy and having the propane fireplace makes for a nice rustic ambiance. We are mid 60’s to early seventies so the steep stairs to the loft sleeping area posed a slight challenge but we made do. We’ve stayed at other properties at this location and Andy is always gracious, accommodating, and communicative.
Cozy little cabin with a surprising amount of space and a glorious view across a meadow towards snow-capped mountains. Didn't see or need the property manager, but they were just a phone call away. Loved it.
The Swan Valley is an incredibly beautiful area. This extensive ranch has 3 cabin rentals with plenty of privacy and room to roam. We were in the valley to kayak the numerous lakes and this cabin is a perfect location. Andy is a great host who will give you privacy or answer any of your questions. He is very knowledgeable about the people and history of this part of Montana. He was also very good at helping to make your stay comfortable.
First off, this area is absolutely gorgeous + Andy was able to guide us on where to go in the Swan Valley. My group even stayed home one day just to experience the views that the cabin and property has to offer.
Andy was incredibly helpful and responsive and helped with anything we needed. Firewood was left out for us and kitchen was well stocked.
Only downside was the bugs but no one can control that!
The property had beautiful views and was peaceful. It was close to Holland Falls and Holland Lake where we planned to spend a day. The cabin was basic which was expected and we were happy with it. It had a lot of interesting decor and books. Andy, the owner was really fun to talk to. He shared a lot of interesting information about the property, cabin and wildlife. We enjoyed his positive vibes!
Beautiful scenery from the cabin! Very quiet.
Cabin is warm and cozy!
Andy is great. I took his advice and went on a hike he suggested. He didn’t steer me wrong, it was a gorgeous hike and not touristy like the place I hard originally chosen. So glad I listened. Thank you Andy! I will definitely be back!
We are repeat customers to the Homestead. The views are serene, the birds (especially the Great Gray Owls) and wildlife are spectacular, and the cabin is lovely. Andy is a wealth of knowledge if you just ask and is always readily available should there be problems...but really, what kind of problem can you possibly have, when you have all the rest!!! Close to a little store and great kayaking and hiking. We'll be back again!!!
Took a long weekend away from bustling Kalispell. The cabin was exactly as pictured and the setting prettier than a picture. The gas woodstove was much appreciated and easy to use. The cabin seems well insulated and held the right temps morning and night. Great central location to explore the Swan Valley. Condon Community Church is just a few minutes away and is very friendly and welcoming. Andy and his wife are very sweet, genuine and thoughtful - as is his darling momma. We were very blessed to see the Northern Lights for two nights of our stay. A very memorable birthday and Mother’s Day!
This place was just right for us. We were personally greeted by the host, Andy, upon arriving. We were in the area visiting family. It was nice to have a comfortable and cozy retreat when we wanted time to ourselves. If you have never been to the area, you’ll fall in love with the scenic beauty of the mountains. It’s truly majestic. I was hooked on the mud pie at the Hungry Bear, the local restaurant. And you can get gas, groceries, and most anything else you need at the Merc. I recommend this cabin. It was a good value.
Best birthday yet. The location, fascinating history, PERFECT picturesque coffee sippin mountain gazin front porch, fireplace, comfortable beds, trails at the door and privacy…made it really challenging to leave. And best of all - the genuine kindness of the hosts and their intentional nostalgic decor and little comforts placed throughout make you feel immediately welcomed as if you’re family. There’s an old favorite book floating around for everyone topped with all of the favorite classic board games.
If you’re looking for a reset, a getaway from technology and a reminder to replace screens with moments of being present with those you love, then this place is for you.
I’m already planning our next stay and I’m just so grateful to have found this gem. Thank you for sharing it all, Andy and fam. 100/100.
