The hotel is very convenient for all you will need
The only problem I see to this hotel is the lack of its own car park, you need to use a public one.
Every thing else wonderful......the people the food the communications.
The National Express Coach if, like me you needed transport picks you up in the main street 5 mins from Allerdale.
At the same stop are regular buses to Keswick and Penrith.
I had a great time.

Average hotel, perfect for a night stay
Stayed here for a night only during the bank holiday, with my wife and a small dog. The hotel is in a good location, 20 minutes from Keswick. There was enough place in the opposite pay and display car park and paid £5 for a day parking. Check-in was smooth. We were hungry when arrived and when we wanted to book a table in the hotel`s restaurant for a dinner, has been told they don`t have a table for us. This was a bit disappointing and had to look an other place to eat. The room was ok, the mattress was well used and soft - but was ok for a night. WiFi signal was very weak, struggled to use it (as usual in many hotels). A WiFi extender doesn`t cost more than £15 but appears most hotels cannot afford it. The breakfast was nicely presented and delicious. Overall the hotel is a slightly better than a B&B, everything is average, nothing special. I think a bit overpriced. Wouldn`t pay here more than £70 for a night.
The bed was small (Standard Double) I live outside of the UK and have grown used to a bigger bed. Staff friendly and efficient. Food was good. Bathroom with a shower over the bath is never going to win any awards from me. But the most difficult thing to contend with is the local council car park metering system, it is very difficult to understand All of the guests using this car park were as bemused as myself

Nice staff, room a little dated but overall OK
Not a bad little hotel, staff were very nice and the bar and restaurant were good. Rooms need a but of refit but were spotless and overall I found the hotel acceptable for a one night stay when visiting the lake district.
Stayed for a full week on business.
Room was comfortable & good sized.
Nice big bathroom with good shower.
Food in restaurant was very good.
Would definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel. Rooms a bit tired but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and managed to get free parking space overnight outside the door. Found the wifi weak.
Nice hotel, friendly helpful staff. Lovely breakfast and nice pub downstairs. Well placed for town. Rooms are well kitted out with nice touches. Could do with a refresh to the decor but doesn't impact on the experience.
Staff were very helpful, added a personal touch. Breakfast was great, very tasty and lots to choose from. The single room I stayed in was clean but a little too basic, and could do with brightening up a little. Very creaky old building so could hear lots of noise of people moving about in the night. Unfortunate that there is no on site parking, but the hotel is very close to a public car park, so not a major problem.
This wonderful little place did it for my son, my dog and I. We needed a B&B before setting off to meet up with others for a week in the Lakes. But you know what??? We fell in love with it!! We booked two double rooms (mother and son couldn't share!!) but it was well worth it - they even left everything in one of the rooms for a dog's needs - amazing!). The staff were so welcoming. This is a real gem of a place!! Honestly! And I am a very discerning lady!
This hotel is a little gem. Great breakfast and a great bistro as part of the hotel.the only thing i would say is pay the little extra for a double room
Hotel looks lovely from the outside but inside it's a whole different story. There are buckets everywhere on the top floor to catch water. My room was stuck in the 70's, really dated cheap furniture and a shower that just dribbled. I would expect more for the price I paid.

Friendly service
Friendly service and good food. But there is an issue with parking. There is a public carpark entrance opposite the hotel but it is very busy. You have to pay for parking between 8am upto 7pm but if you are very luck there is a small chance of getting street parking which also has limited stay hrs between 8am and 7pm.
After a day of hill walking in the rain we thoroughly enjoyed the lovely en-suite with bath. There was plenty of hot water for a long soak.We then had a very tasty evening meal in the restaurant. I can also confirm that the bed was very comfy. Would definitely choose Allerdale again.
This one night stop was only supposed to be the means an end, and we had not given it much thought, as we were on our way somewhere else, but as every aspect about this establishment and its experienced staff was so positive, welcoming, relaxing, and pleasant, we wished this had been our main destination. The building is a characterful arrangement of the best of the old and the new, from flat screen TV to a snug back bar full of comfy chairs and books. The bistro restaurant was popular with residents and locals alike, an attractive mix of good ale and the fizz of Prosecco in this sunny squaret just off the noise and traffic of the main street. We shall not hurry on by in the future! A lovely experience, and we can't wait to go back.
