What's nearby

  • One of the best places in Chile to visit. Many people told me it's like Yosemite like 20 years ago, before it became so touristic. If you come to Chile I recommend it 100%. Although I must say every year more people come here, so make reservations in camping La Junta before you come. It's the biggest one in Cochamó and it has a limit of people so you have your space. To get here you have to take a bus from Puerto Varas to the town of Cochamó, then another one that will take you 8 km inside and then you have to walk for about 4 hours to get to the camping, trust me, it's worth it. Most people stay for 4 days or so, I stayed for 10 and it's perfect, you get to do all the trekkings and have some days to rest (you'll need them). If you climb this is your paradise and you'll stay for 3 whole months.

Barraco Lodge is amazing! The views of lake/river/mountains are majestic - during my 5-day stay, I never tired of looking at the changing landscape. The food was excellent. The staff were super friendly, attentive, and interesting. It's hard to describe how unique and gorgeous this place is. I am so grateful to have had the privilege of staying here. Don't miss it!

Absolutely stunning lodge overlooking the lake. The location on Expedia is incorrect and you actually need to be met and transferred over by boat. Once at the lodge, you've got lots of activities to book (horseback, fishing, hiking, etc) and a Michelin-level dinner to enjoy. The cabins are cosy and offer a perfect escape into the wild. Only note: the double room windows overlook the path to the other cabins, so it's not super private.

Every and I mean every member of staff was welcoming and happy to have a chat and see how they could make our stay better - from the manager, to the chef, porter, activity co-ordinator, groundsman. Absolutely top notch service.
