St Nicholas' Church The current building dates mainly from around 1460, replacing a previous building on the site. The vestries (to the left of this photo, which views the church from the north east) were added in 1849 and 1896. The steeple was extended to its present height after the original was destroyed in a fire in 1857. "As always, an exceptional stay, a welcome gift of a free drink in the bar, lovely staff and gorgeous welcome. Moreover, everything works in the facilities and, unusually, all the individual parts work intuitively from the shower, the lighting, the coffee making machines, the thorough quality of the bedding, furniture, sound-proofing, blackout blinds, restaurant, concierge etc. My unqualified favourite of mine for London stays. As good as any 5 star I have stayed in. Exceptional!"
