The hotel has only been reopened for a month so everything wasn't perfect, but the staff was very friendly, the room was large with a king sized bed (room 801), but the best thing was location, location, location!
At one time the Tremont was a "boutique" hotel without a bar, restaurant. But the building and interior were refined and almost elegant.
The location can't be beat.
The young man who checked me in and out was polite, bit no conversationalist.
The room was beyond tired. The desk lamp had a bulb with a hole in the glass and the ceiling fam could't be turned off unless the light went out too. The bathroom door had been crudely removed.
Cheap hotel if your just looking for someplace to crash without all the fancy amenities.

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Our room door was open upon arrival, which as a lady travelling made me uneasy luckily my bf was there with me. However not having simple things like hand soap and shampoo put this hotel back miles, and I'm not very fussy.
The Tremont overbooked and canceled my stay last minute, within 10 minutes of arrival. While their in the lobby making other arrangements (3) other persons entered and also had their rooms canceled due to overbooking. Seems to indicate the staff rebooked the rooms at a higher rate to other guests once near capacity. Wouldn’t recommend as they didn’t honor the booking arrangement I had made through Expedia.
The room was pretty dirty. Dusty in the corners like they haven’t had a proper clean in years. Water damage on the walls and extremely outdated amenities.
The beds were uncomfortable and only 1/2 elevators were working.
Would not recommend staying here unless it’s just for a night.
Good Location, bad hotel. Stinky & moist carpet; the room was very warm, but there was no AC control in the room. The fan and light work on the same switch, so you cannot keep the fan on at night. Bathroom was not clean either.
Staff was not well trained to assist on my issues with no heat in the room or hot water in the shower.

I reserved a king size bed with a lake view for oct 22. Check in went smoothly, but upon entering my room the assigned me I find 2 individual beds plus a bunk bed. Long story short they said the system was showing different dates than Expedia, they put me in a room were the phone didn't work no appliance was plugged in I had queen bed and only had buildings for my view and was still charged the same amount.
Has been the worst experience ever, since I got there the front desk agent was rude, the room was nasty, it was hair in the bathroom, there was not toilet paper in the room, in the room someone went into my room everytime i asked to speak to a manager there was not manager was such an awful experience, i do not recommend this place
There was bedding missing on one of the beds and they were not able to give us a blanket or pillow. The coffee maker was broke. The toilet was clogged. The tv had to sit on one of the beds as a stand and there were dirty towels in a pile on the floor when we checked in.
It was not clean, you could tell the floors hadn’t been vacuumed. The hot/cold water faucet leaked, the tub faucet you either got extremely hot or cold water, could not get it adjusted properly no matter how much I tried. I would never recommend using this hotel again. It is in need of complete renovation. Plug in didn’t work what few we had. Not a good experience at all. Will not recommend.
Extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience at the Tremont Chicago Hotel. The property was dirty, smelled strongly of mold, had visible damage throughout, and worst of all, I discovered bedbugs on my bed. The conditions were unsanitary and raised serious health and safety concerns. This property should be inspected by the health department. Despite these issues, I was denied a full refund. I would absolutely not recommend staying here.
The room smelled of paint and wallpaper glue so strongly it made my nose run. Additionally, the controls for the wall were ancient and hard to use in the dark. There were open holes in the wall with cords running in them, grimy bathroom corners, and cracked door frames for the bathroom. The entrance seems nice, until you get to the rooms. The front desk wasn’t staffed when I tried to check out in the morning. After waiting for 5 minutes, I dropped my room key and left.
There was no hot water in the shower and the water pressure was very weak. There were 2 open tiles in the bathroom ceiling. The bathroom light was flickering and then at some point stopped working entirely. There was a sound of trickling water that we thought was coming from the bathroom but we couldn’t find it, and it went on all day and all night. There was a small stain on the top bedsheet/comforter. The hallway leading from the lobby and the elevator itself had leaves from outside, which made us think that this hotel is not well maintained. We booked this hotel because it was close to Downtown Chicago where we wanted to explore, and we thought it was the least expensive for its location.

This was just about the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel in my adult life.
To start, I arrived at 7pm to check in, and it took 45 minutes for check in to happen. The hotel over booked and understaffed the weekend so there were pregnant women, elderly, and other vulnerable people in the lobby, also waiting for a long time to check in and be helped. When I arrived into the hotel, there was black mold on the window shades, affecting the quality of the air in the room, the comforter was dirty and when approached about this told me with a look on her face they there was no additional bedding available (???). Also, when asked, there was no way to get additional trash bags or towels. The staff was horrible, Incredibly difficult to deal with. Additionally, there was exclusively boiling hot water in our shower, making it incredibly difficult for us to shower and properly bathe ourselves. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. Horrible time. I have photos on all of this.
I was sadly surprised to find out how poorly this hotel was ran this past weekend. I spent over $700 for two nights at the Tremont and upon arrival it went down hill fast. I arrived at the hotel around 6:30 pm Saturday to check in and no one was to be seen in the lobby/the entire ground floor, not one employee, front desk empty. No worries I had no problem waiting but there was no like bell to ring or any way to notify an employee, so I did wait about 10-15 min for the first employee I see to come down from the elevator to check me in. I was solely in Chicago for a concert at Navy Pier so the location of the hotel was perfect but, the young gentleman who came downstairs to help , he immediately explained that the computer system was down. He had just clocked in for his shift and the earlier desk attendant left no notes about the broken system. So he is playing a guessing game on what rooms are clean/occupied/available. He said there was no housekeeping staff atm, not sure if everyone called off or if they’re short staffed in general. He’s basically alone no help or management or housekeeping. The first room key he gave me I walk in and there’s peoples shoes inside bed messy. I got back down he gives me a second room key different floor , I walk in and there’s luggage and clothes. I could’ve walked in on people I’m this was just so unprofessional and nerve wracking and scary to think they’re just giving room keys to occupied room to strangers!!
This hotel is a scam. I arrived at 6:15 pm, well after the 3pm check in and was simply told, “Your room is not ready, I do not know if the maintenance crew has cleaned it,” by the ONE person working the front desk.
After waiting 20 minutes, I asked for an update and the clerk simply stared at me and said, the room is not ready. After explaining that this was unacceptable and needed to be remedied, I was given a room.
The room had no working lights, had not been cleaned, and still had a, “Do Not Disturb” sign. Additionally, the hallways had not been vacuumed and there was visible debris and filth lining the baseboards.
I returned to the front desk and told her I wanted to cancel the reservation as the room was unacceptable. Having booked through Expedia, I needed the agents to communicate with the clerk directly.
She was the only person working the desk and needed to leave the counter, making it impossible for the agent to speak with her.
When she finally returned the agent attempted to call and the phone never rang. I then asked the clerk what the telephone number was so that I could provide it to the agent. She did not know the number to the phone she was tasked with answering.
After 2 hrs the agent was able to speak with her and my money was refunded.
I HIGHLY recommend checking Reddit threads about this property to get a full understanding of what you will be getting yourself into.
