The room was very nice, the staff were pleasant and helpful. We had dinner and the food was great. The only downfall was, it was very pricey. This was the third Chateau type hotel we had stayed in this trip and it was by far the most expensive. The other two had equally good service and the first had the same quality of food and presentation.
I got a free upgrade to a large and very nice room.
I had dinner in the hotel restaurant which were excellent (the best lamb I've ever had) and the service was exceptional.
1of my top 10 and I am on the road 150 days a year
Great hotel awesome staff 1of the best dinners I have ever had. I travel 150 days a year. I showed up and the restaurant was closed a member of the staff walked me to another restaurant on a cold rainy night she is the best. I stayed on December 11th so she knows who she is thanks I will stay again you were great
We had a really lovely time here, the hotel was first class, our room was spacious and comfortable, dinner was delightful, lots of different courses unexpected. Staff were very attentive.
The hotel is charming and decorated in a unique and beautiful manner. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. But the star is the food. Dinner was sublime. The presentation, quality, service and value make this worthy of a repeat visit.
I stayed at this hotel for one night with my husband en route from St Gallen in Switzerland to Jard-sur-Mer on the Vendée coast of France. It was conveniently situated just off the route we had chosen and provided secure parking for our car and bikes. Our only fear was that the restaurant would prove expensive but there was an excellent all inclusive reasonably priced meal which provided us with 6 or 7 excellent courses. The meal was well presented by knowledgeable waiting staff who described what you had on your plate and answered any questions happily. The restaurant was very smart with white linen tablecloths & napkins but still very welcoming to a young family with a toddler and baby who sat next to us. The hotel staff were all incredibly polite and greeted you with a cheery 'Bonjour'. Breakfast was served in a dedicated room, there was plenty of choice and plenty to eat. Our car was parked for us, so we didn't see where the secure parking was, a little disconcerting, but the car returned to us in the morning unscathed. Our room did have a pretty terrace where we would have been very happy to sit had it not been pouring with rain, however it was hot and the room was air-conditioned, alternatively we had a roll down shutter and a door we could leave open. Charolles seemed a pretty little town with much to offer but sadly we were on a tight schedule time-wise and couldn't really explore very much. I was encouraged to use my French but English was spoken by all the staff we encountered if necessary. The Wi-Fi worked well in our room which was comfortable and well equipped. We were not shown a lounge area and suspect there isn't one but I think all rooms are spacious with their own table and chairs and some with outside space. There is a pretty courtyard to sit in in good weather. Maybe we will return one day.
