Not as expected

Not as expected – important to know before booking Access to the hotel is very difficult – you need to walk 45 minutes along the beach with your luggage. For help, you pay 130,000 COP. The same applies when leaving: either walk again or pay around $300 USD for a boat to Cartagena. We booked a triple room but got a tiny room with 4 beds. No AC, only fans. Electricity is allowed only until 4 PM, and you can shower just once a day. The bathroom is shared with bar guests, cleaned only once daily, and often very dirty. You have to brush your teeth with saltwater. No mirror in the room, and you get ready next to the bar where everyone can see you. Room and bedding weren’t clean. Staff (especially Jeson and Alejandro) were kind but didn’t speak English, which made communication difficult. The view and sea are beautiful, but the loud music all day makes it unsuitable for anyone seeking peace.

It was unique the experience of interacting and seeing bioluminescence/ plankton near the hotel. I recommend to contact the owner prior to traveling. She will give you guidance for transportation.

The receptionist spoke no English. The room had no safe. A cockroach was in the room. There was no “Tranquility” at Freedom Beach. Not anything near what was expected. The only quiet time is after 20:00 hours when the crowds which start arriving at 9:00, have gone home. Disappointed. The bathroom was so poor, I couldn’t take a shower or sit on the toilet.
