Incredibly friendly service especially from Katherina. She provided anything we needed with a smile and right away. She made our stay so much more than we had hoped for. We wpuld love to go back and recommend the small hotel just because of Katherina. She is a jewel
A few blocks from the walled city. Good food at several places within a few blocks. Music from the nightlife was heard, but with the A/C on and ear plugs, it wasn't much of a problem. Lots of hostels in the area, so lots of activity. If you want total quiet, don't stay here. Wonderful staff. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace. Close to everything. The area was always buzzing with activity.
The staff is super friendly, nice and helpful.
The common areas are uniquely decorated, quaint and cozy.
It was quiet.
The roof from the roof is very nice.
The AC is great.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Staff friendly, room spacious, but breakfast not offered, forcing one to go to nearby restaurant each morning.
This hotel is hidden, but it's definitely worth the effort to find it! The front desk staff is extremely helpful, the cleaning staff is thorough, and the Wifi connection in the downstairs lobby is decently fast. The air conditioning in. My room was arctic once it got going, which is a blessed relief from the hellish heat of Cartagena in the summer. My only complaint is that my showers were cold. Again, this was sweet relief from the oppressive heat outside, but still. A little warm water wouldn't hurt.
Overall, a good stay.
The hotel is very nice, clean. Rooms are large, bathrooms clean, and the beds very comfortable.
Very happy to have stayed in this hotel after the disappointing hotels of Cartagena.
I would highly recommend this hotel
Owner of the hotel handles and control stuff for all activities and services by himself.
Special attention for the small details like fresh hot coffee at the room at evening .
I stayed in this hotel as a modestly priced, yet well-reviewed hotel, near Gesemani, in the nightlife district of old Cartagena. Although the location is indeed very close to both the nightlife, and the walled old town (10 min walk), I cannot recommend this hotel. Firstly, it was very loud, with continuous hammering every morning. It was impossible to be comfortable with the air conditioner. Also, there are open windows, and I was attacked by mosquitos one night, almost ruining my trip. Finally, the neighborhood is more of a back-packer hostal area...which is fine if you are under 30. But for a couple on a romantic getaway, or adults who need a bit of comfort, I would spend a few dollars more and book elsewhere. For young backpacker types, who don't need a particularly comfortable room, or amenities, it is fine.
This hotel is in the right place, looks nice, and the rooms are comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful. But with no hot water, no breakfast, and a stiffish price I cannot recommend it strongly.
Hotel is in a up and coming part of the city and walking distance (5 minutes) to the center of the old city. It is no frills but the room was a decent size and clean. Additionally all of the staff were very nice and responsive.
We reserved with more than 3 weeks, then no rooms!
We had two rooms reserved with 3 weeks of advance. Then when we arrived Villa Colonial said they have no room available. We had a very long trip in a plane departed my home in Connecticut at 2am, arrived Cartagena 12 hours later, did the Immigration and custom, then pick a taxi from the airport to the Villa Colonial, arrived there by 3 pm, at that moment the staff said to us that they have no rooms and we will be relocated to other hotel, etc that hotel was inferior than Villa Colonial, we need to pay for another taxi, and mostly we were really tired! Then we needed to go to another hotel (Atlantic, good one), not the one offered by the Villa Colonial people (that was located in a really dangerous neighborhood!), pay for another taxi and another hotel fare. We were in a business trip and additionally I looked as an idiot in front of my boss. What else is possible? I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO USE VILLA COLONIAL!
Only stayed very briefly after landing late in Cartagena before moving on the next morning to a different town (Valledupar). Hotel was fine for that purpose - taxi found it without much trouble, basic facilities including air con but not the comfiest bed and things a bit tired. Staff were v pleasant, calling us a taxi the following morning and offering us coffee while we waited.

Easily the best place i have stayed in Cartagena. It is situated right in the middle of all the restaurants and bars and about a ten min walk to the plaza in the old city. Everything you want is close by and the hotel itself is very clean and comfortable. I found all the people that work there to be very friendly and only too happy to help out with anything we needed.
Not a luxury hotel but a great guest house in the heart of Cartagena

No hot water
A lack of hot water is not acceptable at any price point. Located outside the walls in the party area which is good other than the night club which has an adjoining wall which blares music until 4am. If staying here go to the club until close

Reservation Problem
Upon arriving at the hotel the staff had no record of the reservation that I had made. Even after showing the staff the confirmation that I had received they could not locate a reservation. Overall the hotel is decent but do not rely on a reservation to secure a room.
