Double booked
Unfortunately Hotels dot com double booked the room so my "guaranteed" booking was in fact not guaranteed and I had no bed for the night!!
H.C knew about the lack of availability 2 days before I was told (1 hour before check in). So, with no time to find a alternative my weekend was ruined. I must stress this has nothing to do with the hotel, I just suggest you use a different company to book.
A big shout out to the staff at this hotel They went out of their way to give excellent service and were extremely obliging. For instance, we stayed here with our dog but were able to eat in the lounge as staff moved furniture in whenever we were ready to have breakfast or dine there.
Reception staff very welcoming and helpful, there was a wedding at the hotel which was absolutely fine, however hotel staff were rather slow clearing away glasses and remnants of the chocolate strawberries from the public areas.
Great place to stay, building looking a bit tired.
Happy to recommend.

Overpriced and noisy
The stuff was amazing and super friendly. But the hotel is very noisy and dilapidated. The fire doors bangs very loudly every time someone walks down the corridor and you can hear everything in the nearby rooms and corridors. Our bathroom door couldn't close either which made the noise worse. The room was very spacious though and the Indian restaurant had great food. The hotel's breakfast was similar to a mid range B&B. Not at all what I expected for the price.

Short stay
Really good stay, friendly helpful staff, Indian restaurant is highly recommend excellent.
Amazing! Beautiful room loved everything. Just the simple things missing. The bath plug didn’t work or the spotlights for the bath area. No milk with the tea and coffee. Wardrobe lock dodgy and bit cold the room. Other then that amazing even if expensive.
Lovely grounds, approach, and reception. Cosy bar with good service. Room clean and cosy with good views, tv didn't work but they had problems that weekend and apologies were given. The Ondian restaurant ws superb. All prices were good, will happily go again.
Was in a single room with the radiator jammed on. I asked to be moved and reception said ok - knowing about the issue! They didn’t tell me when the room was ready- had to keep going down to ask- wasting relaxing time in the bar and room- their loss since that was my last trip in there!
Had a good night at the hotel with a very comfortable room. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice.

Tired and in need of investment
Tired and in need of investment. Decor and building is needing a significant overhaul and refurbishment. The bedroom refurb has been done half heartedly with holes in doors, cracks in ceiling and paper peeling off the walls with deteriorating paintwork around the windows. Breakfast was tasty. I wouldn’t say my study was worth £100 a night

No working electric points for razors in the bathroom.
Excellent Indian restaurant on site.
The grounds of the hotel where well kept.
As for the hotel itself it desperately needs updating. We had a twin room and there were cobwebs under the windowsill in the bathroom. The room itself needed to be completely redecorated and updated.
And while we where there we had some rain during the night. And was kept awake because the guttering also needs to be sorted out.
And because the hotel ran an Indian restaurant there was very little choice off the menu ifnyou didnt fancy an Indian that night. Which was why we ended up eating out.
Wonderful welcome and an upgrade! Friendly efficient staff. Restaurant food was amazing and delicious. Got a great recipe for their tasty lamb dish. Very enjoyable visit.
Nice hotel, good room and superb in-house Indian Restaurant … very friendly cat supporting Reception
Simple check in/out, all in all very good

Good stay
Good size room, clean, tasty food and lovely decor in room. Friendly staff and beautiful location. Award winning Indian restaurant in the hotel and regular menu, average restaurant pricing. Some areas of internal decor of hotel a bit dated. There for a wedding so no need to explore local area, but you are in the country with narrow single track lanes to get there at the end. Hotel cat roams freely in lobby and bar so not good if allergic.
The bedrooms are gorgeous but a change of room was required as it was so cold in the first one. I had to move everything myself and even the plug in radiator as the second room was not much warmer. Parts of the hotel are run down and need money spending which is a shame as it would not take much to make it amazing
