Close to local amenities, easy check in, good instructions. All essentials provided, cool bathroom. Lots of cooking equipment for use in communal kitchen. Pool table, tennis table, board games.
We had a great stay. It was a city break with my two children and we really enjoyed the experience. The CoalShed has real character and was a great place to hang out with my kids and use as a base to explore all the great stuff on offer in Bristol.
We loved the games facilities and the 'honesty bar', which is a great idea and was definitely welcome in the evening.
The communal area is great for socialising with the other guests as well.
The rooms were comfy and really well laid out, there was everything we needed.
In short - a great stay and would gladly go back.
Really good hotel and really good value for money. Tea, coffee, milk and granola provided for breakfast and a decently priced honesty bar. It's completely self check-in and check-out. The only negative is the low number of plug sockets in the room but that's a bit pick
It was brilliant, we stayed in the 3 bed apartment and it was spot on. We loved the pool table, table tennis, board games and honesty bar. Very well thought through
Beautiful property would definitely stay here again. Super clean & affordable & perfect for larger groups. There was 6 of us staying here and we had lots of space. Also a really cool location with lots of food options in walking distance & public transport. Only downside is the parking which is a bit tricky to find. However, I managed to find a space about a 3 minute walk away & luckily as we arrived on a weekend it was out of hours so we weren't charged.
Property was clean and fun, lots of arty decor. Shower was great. Easy self check-in.
Sometimes loud as right next to a skate park.
Top room is open to the living space so less private.
The Coal Shed is a great place to stay and so reasonably priced for what you get. It's cute, comfortable, stylish and well thought out. There is a self service bar with an honesty box, very cool! The local area is hip and Bristol city center is all walkable, although we got an Uber. Love this place and will definitely use it again next time we come here for a gig.
We found this space easy and convenient for our stay in Bedminster.
Our room, on the ground floor shared space, was comfortable; felt quiet, private and secure.
Alongside a small fridge, Coal Shed provide a range of tea and coffee options in the room with crockery and cutlery to hand.
A shared kitchen was kept clean and well stocked with equipment and oil for cooking, if you decide to stay in.
We stayed over a weekend, let ourselves in and never met a member of staff but the notes were welcoming.
We didn't manage to make use of the pool or table tennis but may do on our next visit.
Shower area needs improvement. Water pours out onto bathroom floor. Need more mats and towels. Otherwise place was quite ok. Didn't see anyone to ask for help. Felt safe enough and was lucky enough to get parking.
Lovely unusual place to stay, the room was lovely and clean and the bed very comfortable. There are jo staff on site which is fine but I did need to ask someone something so I phoned the emergency tel number that was on the into board but noone answered and noone got back to me. I do think if you are going to run a no staff hotel you do need someone to be available at the end of the emergency phone number.
I liked the facilities. The issue for me was a family playing table tennis b4 8a.m.We turned in at 10 p.m re your rules.Maybe a know table tennis before 9 at least would be a fare rule to?
Alright location and conditions but difficult parking (no spots available or provided), periodic noise like a small pump getting activated for few seconds every minute or two (maybe from the AC unit), broken bathroom door and TV remote not working (only able to power one-off the TV). There is no concierge and email response is slow.
Nice alternative to conventional hotels and apartments. The structure offers a room and a social dining/relaxing area available for all the guest. We enjoyed meeting other travellers and playing ping pong and snoocker
Very easy to get settled in the room. A lot of free honesty policy amenities & activity accessible within the accom. Lovely place for the price especially.
Really affordable and actually much better than I anticipated for the price. I had the door code and more information emailed and texted to me before arrival which made entry incredibly straightforward.

Lovely Concept, but Needs Better Security for Solo
I booked The Coal Shed for a recent work trip and arrived around 4pm, but ended up leaving later that evening (around 10:30pm) as I didn’t feel comfortable staying overnight.
It appeared I was the only person on site, there were no staff or other guests around, and the room door couldn’t be bolted or securely locked from the inside. The fire exit door also looked quite flimsy, which made me feel uneasy as a solo female traveller.
The room itself was clean but more worn and scuffed than shown in the photos. With a few safety improvements and more visible on-site presence, it could be a nice place to stay, but unfortunately it just didn’t feel right for me on this occasion. I do think it would be great for groups.
Jännässä paikassa sijaitseva urbaani hostelli. Viihtyisä ja rauhallinen, erityisen persoonallinen!
Ohjeet sisäänkirjautumisesta tulivat ajallaan ja olivat hyvät. Erinomainen hinta/laatu-suhde.
