Arriving around midnight after a long drive I was initially thankful there was someone there to open the door. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. My expectations were pretty low, all I wanted was a hot drink, a wash and a comfortable bed. Unfortunately there were no drink-making facilities, no towels, no pillows on the bed and only a dirty bar of soap with a previous guests whiskers stuck into it. I tried to use the room phone to contact reception but there were no instructions on how to contact them, dialling 0 didn't work. I used my mobile to call the telephone number from my booking confirmation but couldn't get an answer. I then waited in reception for 10 minutes continually pressing the bell but nobody came. Eventually I gave up and went back to my room. On the way I tried all the doors marked 'private' hoping to find someone and found a store room so was able to help myself to what I needed (even if pillow-cases eluded me). I'm only glad I was leaving early the next morning.
