A disappointment!

Having booked hotel with hotels.com we drove across France looking forward to stay. Arrived and found hotel closed - they hadn't told hotels.com - this is not what I would expect from a 5* hotel

Really disappointing and ridiculously overpriced!

This hotel looks amazing from the pictures and it is APPARENTLY a 5 star and a Relais & Chateaux. I have stayed in plenty of 5 star hotels and Relais & Chateaux and I can tell you this is not one of them!!! I doubt any money has been invested in this hotel since the 1970s at best. The hotel room smelled musty. There was absolutely zero luxury anywhere. If you want to have a shower you have to stand holding the shower head in your hand. The WiFi is non-existent. It is a 3 star hotel and best and definitely not a Relais & Chateaux. It is completely overpriced and I would say it is best to avoid it completely.

Très bel établissement dans un grand parc Rien à dire sur la chambre Néanmoins restaurant correct sans plus pour étoilé Michelin qui pour nous est assez loin de l’étoile. De plus alors que nous dormions à hôtel et que c’est encore l’été avons dîner dans le fond de la salle alors qu’il restait des tables à proximité de l’extérieur, donc petite déception de ce point de vu et comme indiqué au dessus le cuisinier doit être plus créatif pour prétendre garder l’étoile trop de plats fades. Il est encore jeune à lui de se lâcher Donc hôtel à recommander juste pour site et chambre

Vriendelijk personeel, maar hotel zeer verouderd.

Het hotelpersoneel is vriendelijk en uitermate beleefd. Echter je ziet dat er sprake is van achterstallig onderhoud. Verf afgebladderd in de kamers, geen ventilatie in de badkamer of toiletruimte. Typische kleine Franse bedden, die ook nog eens voorzien zijn van te zachte matrassen. De superior kamer, dus een klasse boven de standaard kamer, had een badkamer met enkel een bad, waarin de douche niet kon worden opgehangen... Kamer was qua formaat prima. Het ontbijt is veel te karig en beperkt voor het bedrag dat ervoor wordt gevraagd. Het hotel is de 5* zeker niet waard in deze staat. Het restaurant, welke een 1* Michelin heeft, heeft helaas ook niet voldaan aan de verwachtingen. Amuse van scheermes was smaakloos, voorgerecht eenmaal de foie gras en eenmaal de kreeft prima, tussengerechten (velouté) ook, maar het hoofdgerecht was een deceptie. Coquilles die taai! zijn, dat kan in een dergelijke keuken niet. De chef die naderhand langskwam bleef volhouden dat ze niet minder gegrild konden worden omdat ze anders aan de binnenkant niet '40 graden zouden zijn'. Wellicht dat de eetbaarheid ook meetelt chef? Menu verder wel redelijk geprijsd, wijnen buitenproportioneel duur, deze zijn minimaal de prijs van een menu, en al snel een veelvoud ervan. Al met al redelijke keuken, maar zeker geen sterrenniveau.

Hotel correct, restaurant à éviter

L'hôtel est bien (à condition d'aimer le style "gentleman farmer"), les chambres sont grandes. Il y a une piscine mais elle est non couverte et non chauffée. Mais il faut éviter le restaurant. On nous a servi autre chose que ce qui était commandé, service très long et cela s’engueule en cuisine. Ce qui n'est pas vraiment agréable...
