We were redirected to another hotel as this one was shut for some reason. We got placed at St Elmo's hotel.
It was extremely dirty, hole in the bathroom door, bits of wall missing. The plug sockets look extremely dangerous they nearly fall out as you plug things in.
It took 15 minutes to check in as there was no one around.
Firstly, NOT the St Kilda. We were moved as it was being "refurbished" (someone had the same last year too) to a landfill facility called the ST ELMO, so a warning to any others in this position. The place was an absolute disgrace - exposed wiring, 20amp cable trailing across the floor, rubbish stored in the room, sink cracked in half, etc, etc. Certainly could not pass a fire inspection so I suspect totally unlicensed. Fortunately we only got there very late (and too late to go elsewhere), and just needed somewhere to sleep (though on the bed, certainly not in it). All this just for the bargain price of £94!
No free car park like it said, rooms not clean, only a hand towel provided, customer service line dreadful, no private bathroom place is just like a youth hostel, cheap mattress uncomfortable could feel every spring

OYO Hotels disappointed
On calling to check-in, we were informed that there was a maintenance issue so we were being moved to another hotel, St Elmo for a like to like room. The room was no where near like for like size wise only that it was much smaller and had a private bathroom. I was contacted several times by OYO hotels branch only for them to say we had been moved for a like for like room. I 100% disagree with what they had said
We could not get into the hotel no one was available, there was a number to ring but when we phoned the number they said I needed an entry code which was sent via email which I never received, however I did receive it the morning of checkout !! The bed was leaning towards the wall which meant our heads would be leaning down must probably would have gave us headaches, my husband went to use the loo before we headed out only to lift the seat and was full of Excrement so obviously was not cleaned prior to our arrival !! In the end we did get moved to a different room
Me and my 12 year old niece Stayed in room 12
Worst hotel I’ve stayed In
I checked in at 7 which was relatively easy front door was a bit tricky to open (it was self check in hotel) I wanted a quick shower as we were of to the theatre to see a show at eight the hot water didn’t work so no shower, there was a used tampon in the bathroom, dirty cups, the quilt was dirty and had what looked like blood on it, the towels were stained and the main issue was the door wouldn’t lock from the inside. tried to get hold of some one had no call back from the hotel itself oyo customer service weren’t that helpful they finally changed the duvet cover for the second night but non of the other problems and I revived an email from someone from oyo saying I couldn’t get a refund as there was nothing wrong with the room.I never asked for a refund I asked to switch rooms if some one had spoken to me I would have checked out early and booked somewhere else absolutely
Dissapointing, despite the price. where the 3 stars come from, I have no idea. "host will greet on arrival" what tosh, theres a phone number to call to get the code for the keysafe to the front door, and your room. The hotel is entirely unmanned
The first room we were directed to hadn't been cleaned, unmade bed, and bags of rubbish on the floor. had to wait in here for 15 minutes for somone to come and move us to another room. this had been "cleaned" but it wasnt great, bed was ok, apart from the very worn, thin mattress, sink had hair in it, the windowsill was very dusty, and had cigarette burns in it, and one of the cups for the tea/coffee hadnt been washed, nor had the supplies been replenished, the only other "facility" was a small TV.
Shower had mould on the sealant, and no toilet roll holder and paper peeling off the walls and ceiling.
Also, the listing said the rooms were over 1 floor, this is not the case, they're over 3 floors, and no lift.
there's also the "Free Wifi" which consisted of access points scattered around on the stairs (quite literally) but nowhere was the code to use the wifi to be found. I usually try and make a balanced review, but other than being cheap, there really was no plus points here. even "cheap" I would expect to be clean and tidy at least.
Sorry OYO, but you missed the mark here
Self check in over the phone, agent we got through to was very rude. Main door doesn't shut properly. Felt like a hostel inside, was a communal kitchen and dining room which both were incredibly dirty and filled with empty pepsi cans, takeaway rubbish all over, empty cigarette ends and packets which explained the smell.
Regardless we went up to our room, the lock on our room door was loose and coming out, complained to the management company and got ignored. Spoke to hotels.com that tried to get in touch with the hotel owners (about 4pm on a Sunday) but they're unable to be contacted at such a time.
While arranging alternative accommodation someone knocked on the door then tried to start putting a key in. I opened the door to what I presume was the owner who apologised as he'd just run to the hotel to fix the issues. I told him about the main door and he said if we have any issues to let him know and he'll sort it (ignoring what I'd just said) I showed him the 'lock' on our door as a starting point, he saw no issue with it.
Told him it's not secure or clean and we're going to go elsewhere. His response, okay and off he went.
No refund or real response from OYO apart from saying there's no proof we complain to anyone and didn't have video evidence. Highly recommend you avoid this hotel and OYO themselves too. We've never left a hotel before staying before but this place is grim. DO NOT TRY AND HOPE FOR THE BEST, ITS NOT WORTH IT.
I didn't checking in that hotel because it was closed, on Friday in the evening when i arrived at the hotel, and the neighbours tell me that hotel it s closed, and i wasn't the only one who had the same thing
The hotel was closed down on arrival and had been for some time. Soent an hour on phone trying to resolve and get refund onlty to be put on hold and cut off. Will never use hotels.com again or stay in a pup hotel. Avoid both
Staff were lovely, hotel was very clean, easy to find from Blackpool south train station, theme park is just a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel, beach is right down the road from it. Only down fall was the heating didn’t work in the room but that was no bother & another down fall was sharing a bathroom with other residents but no bother. It is good enough for one night. Myself and partner will be staying there again.
The hotel was a bargain, but unfortunately the heater didn't work in our room. We informed reception but it still remained cold. Despite that though, we would stay again.
